What a lovely week it has been in Year 2! It’s hard to believe that the season of Advent is here already and the children only have two more weeks of learning until they come to the end of their first term in Year 2. This week we have spent time reflecting upon Advent and what it means.

I think it’s safe to say that we all had the BEST time on our trip to Imagine That Science and Discovery Centre yesterday! The day was filled with so much happiness as the children explored, questioned, played and created whilst they moved through the different zones within the museum. They were such a pleasure to take out of school and they showed just how much they have grown and matured in the time they have been in Year 2 so far!

It’s been another busy week here in Year 2 and once again, we’ve reached Friday in what feels like the blink of an eye!

We’ve had another wonderful week here in Year 2! In English, the children have continued to really enjoy our Traditional Tale unit as we have delved even deeper into the fairytales that we all know and love. The children have been really busy unpicking the different features within traditional tales and have created a toolkit for what a good fairytale should include.

What a great first week back we have had here in Year 2! It has been lovely to see those enthusiastic, smiley faces walking through the door each morning and the children have without a doubt thrown themselves straight back into their learning! It has also been a week filled with excitement, as on Thursday morning, the children came into a classroom filled with new chairs! I don’t think I’ve ever seen the children get their things ready for the day as quickly as they did yesterday morning - they were all so eager to test out their new seats! Overall, the chairs get a definite thumbs up from Year 2!

Time has most certainly flown by and here we are with only two days of learning left before the half term holidays! Even with a few sniffles and splutters and some very tired brains, the children have continued to work as hard as ever in order to achieve those half term targets.

We have been super busy once again here in Year 2! The classroom has been filled with so many Enthusiastic Bobby Bees and Have a Go Tommy Turtles, and because of this, so much learning has taken place!

The week has just flown by and once again, we’ve reached Friday in what seems like the blink of an eye! Each day has been jam packed with so much fantastic learning, from English to Geography, Computing and Music - I think there’ll definitely be some tired children in need of a rest this weekend!

I couldn’t feel more proud of all of the children this week! They are without a doubt now into the full swing of Year 2 and are showing just what they are capable of. I explained to the children this morning just how difficult it was to choose learning certificates as each and every person has shone and stood out in some way or another. Some have produced brilliant writing in English, whilst others have problem solved and taken their thinking to a real deep place in maths. Well done Year 2 - it’s great to teach such enthusiastic and focused children!

We have moved onto looking at numbers to 100 in Maths. We have learnt the many tricky spellings of the written numbers and are also able to make the numbers using a range of representations and equipment. Already the children are showing just how much they are up for a challenge in their maths work which is amazing to see.

It has been a pleasure to have all of the children in class for their first full week in Year 2. They have all worked unbelievably hard, despite the hot and humid weather, and most definitely deserve a well earned rest this weekend! I am so lucky to be the teacher of such an enthusiastic, focused, and most importantly, kind and compassionate group of children. It has been a pleasure watching the class grow in confidence this week and seeing all of their little personalities flourish as they have become more comfortable in their new classroom.

We have had such a beautiful start to our Year 2 journey together over the past two days! It has been wonderful getting to know each and every one of your delightful children and I can’t wait to get to know them more as the year unfolds. The children have fit seamlessly into their new classroom; it somehow feels like they’ve always been here.

HELLO and a big big welcome to Year 2! September is just around the corner and before we know it, Tuesday and the beginning of the new school year will be here! I CANNOT wait to see all of those smiling faces back in the classroom and to have us all back as a class and whole school community!

I can’t quite believe that I am writing the final blog of the year … and what a year it’s been! So many challenges have been thrown our way and so many obstacles have been overcome, but through it all, the children have been truly AMAZING! They have taken everything in their stride, have continued to smile, and my goodness, the progress they have continued to make has been astounding.

I can’t quite believe I’m writing this, but we’ve just enjoyed our penultimate week together! It’s been a week filled with smiles, laughter and love as we’ve thrown everything into every moment of learning as a Year 2 class team. On Tuesday the children were very excited to discover that we had a visitor in the class … their new Year 3 teacher

This week has just flown by! The children have continued to amaze me with their superb learning and they have been thinking carefully about what choices they can make in order to make our final weeks together as enjoyable and fun as possible!

WOW - what an amazing week we have had here in Year 2! The focus and learning has been UNBELIEVABLE! The children are certainly showing that they are ready for the juniors!

This week has been wonderful! The sun was shining for our sports afternoon on Tuesday, where the children competed with such enthusiasm and determination. The sportsmanship seen from the children was amazing! They graciously celebrated their wins and clapped for other teams in defeat, which was an absolute joy to witness.

What a wonderful week we have had back at school! It was lovely to hear that the children had such brilliant half term holidays recharging their batteries but were as enthusiastic as ever to be back at school ready for their final six weeks in Year 2!

Well Year 2, we’ve all made it to the end of the first summer term! I always love this term in Year 2. It’s the term where so much independence can be seen and the children begin to show just how ready for the juniors they are. It’s also the term where learning from the year seems to come together.
