It’s been nice to have a bit more of a normal week after the busyness of last week! Nativity practice is now well underway, and my goodness, I already feel so proud when I hear the children’s wonderful expression when speaking their lines. Please do keep practising these over the weekend.

The weather has been gloomy, wet and miserable this week, but this certainly hasn’t dampened the children’s spirits in the classroom! I can’t quite believe how much we have managed to fit into just one week!

Friday has come around once again in what seems like the blink of an eye! This week, I have seen such wonderful acts of kindness within our classroom. I can’t quite believe just how independent the children have become and the compassion and respect they show toward each other every day is a joy to witness. Thank you Year 2, you continue to be such a pleasure to teach!

It was wonderful to welcome the children back to school on Monday morning. This term leading up to Christmas is always an incredibly busy one, so it was great to hear that the children had had time to relax and recuperate over the holidays. As always, there was no time to waste, as it was straight into business as usual; learning and growing our brains!

We had a lovely start to the week by celebrating the Harvest mass together at church. The children sat and sang so beautifully and it was wonderful to see some of our food donations on the alter. Afterwards, we reflected on how lucky we are to have such wonderful food and thought deeply about those in our community who might need our help.

It’s hard to believe that we only have one more week in school before the end of the first half term; it’s whizzed by! Every day I see just how the children are growing and maturing; they are becoming such independent learners who take responsibility for their actions and believe that they can do anything if they put their minds to it!

It was lovely to welcome you all to our class assembly on Tuesday morning, and my, weren’t the children amazing! It was the first time they had performed to such a big audience and I’m sure you’ll agree, they spoke with such confidence and expression. The whole of Year 2 are trying really hard to be superb role models and to think about their words and actions where ever they are.

Unfortunately I was struck with a dreaded sickness bug on Monday and Tuesday so was unable to come into school at the beginning of the week. However, it was Mrs Hotchkiss to the rescue who said that she had loads of fun starting the week with lots of fantastic learning. She enthusiastically told me when I returned on Wednesday that all the children are now able to recognise the minute hand on a clock when placed on one of the 5 minute intervals past the hour. She was also incredibly impressed by the children’s confident speaking and wonderful singing as they went through our assembly script together. Map skills have also been the focus with Mrs Hotchkiss in Geography.

At the end of the day on Wednesday I overheard one of the children saying to their friend “Wow, it’s the end of the day already! Don’t the days go quickly!”, and I certainly have to agree! With all the learning taking place, the days are whizzing by and before we know it, it’s time to go home!

It has been wonderful to see the children so confident and comfortable in their new Year 2 classroom this week after overcoming any worries they may have had last week. This class really are a great team; they look after each other, speak with respect and are always there to lend a helping hand. Thank you Year 2 - you are such a pleasure a teach!

What a wonderful start to the year we have had in Year 2! It was amazing to see all of the children’s smiling faces as they proudly walked through the door on Monday morning, looking incredibly smart all ready for the new challenges ahead! We have been so busy getting to know each other that the week seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye!

I am so so excited to welcome you all into your new Year 2 classroom on Monday. We’ve all been busy getting everything ready for you … the only thing missing in school now is YOU! Next week we will focus on getting to know each other and ensuring that everyone feels safe and happy. I can’t wait to learn all about each of you. We’re going to have such a great time together. Make sure you get lots of sleep this weekend ready for the busy week ahead!

Well… we’ve made it to the end of the Year 2 journey, and what a ride it’s been! I know I say it every week in every blog, but I simply couldn’t feel prouder of each and every child! They have tackled so many challenges this year; not only in their learning but socially and emotionally too.

The final full week of Year 2 has now passed us by, and although we’re reaching the final days of this term, learning has still continued as normal!

Yet another week has flown by in the blink of an eye! The learning has continued to be fast-paced and focused as the children prepare for their transition into the juniors!

I can’t believe that we are into July already, and only have just over two weeks of learning left in Year 2! This has flown by with the children not missing any opportunities to grow their brains and learn a little more about themselves!

I seem to say it every week, but WOW, this week really has flown by in the blink of an eye! I have been so proud of the whole class this week; even though the summer holidays are growing closer, they have all continued to work hard and show just how ready for Year 3 they are!

What a glorious week of sunshine we have had! On Tuesday it felt so special to have the school community back together again as we celebrated Year 1 and Year 2’s sports day! What a fantastic afternoon it was. The children jumped, sprinted and ran their way round the different challenges before participating in the class relays at the end.

We’ve had a wonderful time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this week! Wednesday was dedicated to the Queen; it was brilliant to see the children in their red, white and blue to commemorate such a momentous occasion.
