Exciting News!

Year 3 will be going on a trip on Monday 8th November, as part of our Stone Age History topic. It is going to be a fun, jam-packed day, of shelter building, fire lighting and much more! This trip is an amazing day out, that really helps the children to see what life was like during the Stone Age period and how people survived. The day will be spent at Brockholes, Preston and the entire day will be spent outdoors, which we know the children will love. Obviously, with the trip taking place in November (we are being brave!), this will mean the children will have to wear suitable clothing, dressed for the weather and the outdoors. Children, on this day, may wear their own clothes, that they are not bothered about getting dirty. They will need to wear warm, waterproof clothing and boots or wellies. We will be leaving 9am and arriving back at school at 3pm, which means children will need a packed lunch for the day. If your child usually has a hot dinner on this day, then a packed lunch will be provided by Jackie, but we would need to know the choice of filling for the sandwiches the week before. The total cost of the school trip is £15, which covers the cost of the trip itself and the transport. Please can this be paid before half term, via Parent Pay.

Yet another great week in Year 3 has come to an end! The children have been working very hard to listen and be good role models this week. That means they have now got TEN class hug, which means at some point they will be awarded there 5 minutes extra play- amazing job Year 3, let’s keep up the hard work! I can’t believe we have now been back to school for 4 weeks - time really does fly when you’re having fun. The children are working so hard and have settled in to life in the juniors much better than I could have ever expected.

Year 3 24.09.21- 'It doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop'

What a lovely week we have had in Year 3! The children are continuing to work extremely hard and there seems to be lots of learning points being given to children for their focused, resilient and enthusiastic attitudes! We have talked a lot about presentation of their work in class, how our books show what pride we take in our work and many of the children have worked extra hard to make sure every piece of work reflects what hard work they are putting in. As it says on the title, ‘it doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long as you don’t stop’. I really hope the children get to share their work with you at some point this year, as we are sure you will be impressed!

Year 3 17.09.21 'They may forget what you said but they will never forget how you made them feel'

Year 3 have not stopped this week, they have immersed themselves in all of their learning and have shown just how eager they are to grow their brains! They have really impressed us this week with how much they love their reading, coming in on Monday with many of them so eager to quiz, it was truly wonderful to see. We had a long discussion this day on how it is not the amount of times that we quiz that counts, but whether we are challenging ourselves with the books we read, whether we enjoy what we are reading and of course how well we understood what we have read. The children have really took this on board and we are seeing much more suitable choices in regards to books.

We started off the week with such a pleasant surprise- our first assembly in the hall. Although the infants did not join us, it was so lovely to celebrate all of the Year 6 jobs as a key stage and Year 3 listened and sat so beautifully.

On Wednesday, the children shared their Class Council speeches and what a job they did too! From poems, to posters, motivational speeches and even videos with guest appearances! They all did a fantastic job, speaking out so confidently and bravely in front of their class. What we were most proud of, was the support and encouragement they all gave to one another, hence the quote title today. Thank you Year 3 for being supportive of one another.

Congratulations to you both, I am sure you will represent Year 3 incredibly well.

On Thursday we continued our coding work in computing, by learning how to create a ticking clock, by creating ‘Code blocks’. We had to create a sequence of instructions to make our clocks tick and ring a bell. All of the children showed their resilience, tweaking and problem solving their work until they had successfully completed the task.

In RE we continued to think about God’s world. We thought about some of our favourite things about the world and shared these together. We have also been thinking about our families, reflecting on our happy memories and thinking about what we can do to help one another.

We ended the week with our first spelling quiz were we focused on the spelling rule: ’dropping the ’e’ when adding the ’y’. We had lots of 100% which has set the bar very high! Keep up the great work Year 3, I wonder if we could get everybody to beat or maintain (those of you who got 100%) your score next week…

Year 3 Learning this week …

In English this week, we have continued our fables work, focusing on the morals and sequencing of the stories. There were some wonderful sentences created when we sequenced ‘the Lion and the Mouse’.

The Maths focus continues to be place value, this week we have looked at drawings to represent numbers up to 1,000 and looking at the value of each digit.

You pushed yourself outside of your comfort zone by sharing a wonderful speech in front of your peers. We have also been impressed by your wonderful focus during each and every lesson! We have been so impressed by your focus this week! During our gymnastics lesson you concentrated carefully, managed your distractions and created a beautiful sequence! Not only have we seen your focus this week, we have also spotted your kindness. You are always one of the first to offer their help, making you a great learning partner! Well done Bella, we are so proud of you!

Year 3 10.09.21 "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Wow, what a lovely first full week we have had in Year 3! The children have all shown what Bobby Bee’s they are, showing great enthusiasm for all of their learning and have already settled in to their new junior routines. This week we have spent time getting used to our new classroom, learning about their new expectations and despite the heatwave have all shown what excellent learners they are- we can’t wait to see all of their achievements thus year!

Year 3 Learning this week …

In English this week, we have started our wonderful reading of fables. We began watching a very humorous video of an ostrich and a penguin in a running race - can you guess who won? Ask the children and they will tell you and then hopefully you can discuss the moral. We have also read the fable of ‘the Lion and the Mouse’, and even acted out the scene where they first met, we definitely had some very convincing lions and mice!

We have got in to the full flow in Maths this week, where children are now looking at numbers up to 1,000 and they have blown us away with their place value of these numbers and how they are able to use materials to represent some quite big numbers!

We have also had a brilliant time with Mrs Curtis during our first Art lesson of the term. Those of you who have forgotten, please remember to bring in an old shirt that can be worn and left in school to protect their uniforms during any of the messier Art lessons.

Our Year 6 friends have been busy creating their house captain speeches which we fully enjoyed watching! They made it a difficult decision to make and we are now eagerly awaiting the results!

In RE we have been thinking all about the creation of our beautiful world the children were very reflective when we began to think about who is responsible for God’s world. I wonder if they could tell you their thoughts on this?

Finally, we ended the week with some computing and with great success! We all managed to complete our first bit of coding and the children are very excited to progress these skills further over the coming weeks.

What can we say Ben… you have been thoroughly involved in every class discussion and task that has been set this week. We absolutely love seeing your hand up to share your thoughts and experiences and we are sure this will only continue. You are wonderful at managing distractions and always make sure you complete your work with 100% effort. Well done Ben, what a brilliant start!

TOILETS- Please could you speak to your child/ children about when is the best time to go to the toilet. We, of course, have spoken to the children and reminding them to go at playtimes which are frequent enough, but we are still finding it very difficult to manage the amount of toilet visits during lessons. We understand that children this week are getting used to their new routines and there will sometimes be matters of urgencies, however, some children are missing vital learning. If your child has special toilet needs and needs to go more frequently or urgently, please could you send a quick email, as we will need to be a little more strict next week.

Well, what a wonderful couple of days we have had settling into our new class! We had a classroom full of smiles, as well as some nerves, as we welcomed our friends back on Thursday! The children settled in straight away and any of those nerves had soon disappeared! We have been SO impressed with our lovely new class family and the focus and enthusiasm they have already shown. One of our first activities has been practising our class mantra which we will be thinking about throughout our year, helping our classroom to be a happy place to learn together!

This morning, we were able to join together as a whole school family which was such a lovely way to kick start the new school year and has inspired us all to reach for those goals! We have also been looking at our two virtues that we will reflect on throughout the term. These are ‘Learned’ and ‘Wise’. I wonder what the children can remember about these two virtues?

· If your child has asthma please make sure we have an inhaler in school (labelled).

Well done children for getting on with your work this week from home, it has been super to see how busy you have been and how much work you have done. We are so proud of you! Well done to all of you who have reached your reading targets this week. Thank you also to all of our lovely parents who have supported the children this week too. You are AMAZING too!

Well, what a year it has been! It hasn’t been what we would normally expect, but that hasn’t stopped the children from learning and being determined to succeed. We are so proud of you all, you have been INCREDIBLE!

The Year 3 team have absolutely loved teaching the children this year and we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing so much together. We would all like to thank the children for being such wonderful members of the class and also all of you parents for the support that you have given us and the children throughout the year. What a team we have made!

It has been wonderful to be part of your child’s learning journey this year and to watch them grow on a daily basis. They have been such a loving and caring class and always ready to see the good in every situation. We have had so much fun together and we hope that you will enjoy the videos that we have put together to celebrate the year, but first some photos from this week.

As you know we are saying ”Goodbye “ to Alexander and his family as they are moving away. We would just like to wish them all lots of love and happiness as they move on to pastures new. You have been wonderful this year Alexander. You are such a kind friend and a lovely member of our class, we will all miss you, but we know that you will soon make lots of new friends when you move to your new school. Please do remember us and keep in touch, we would love to hear how you are getting on.

If you have any spare time during the holidays and would like to keep that love of learning ticking over and make sure that you are ready to start Year 4, head over to the home learning section of our class web page. There you will find a range of activities to have a go at in preparation for Year 4.

Well this wasn’t the ending to the year we were expecting to have but the children have been wonderful today and although we are all so upset and disappointed that we can not be in school next week, we have gone home with smiles on our faces and a resolve to continue working next week. -I will put lots of lovely activities on to our Remote Learning page so that the children can continue with there learning, so please make sure that you all check it out. I aim to make these activities fun and hopefully the children will be able to access them independently.

The whole of the Year 3 team would like to say a great big thank you to all of the children and to yourselves for making this year a truly amazing one. We have really loved working with the children and watching them grow and develop.

We have had another super week in Year 3 full of enthusiasm and determination to try to reach targets before the end of the year. Earlier this week Mrs Lyons popped in to see the children and they will also get the chance to spend some more time with her next week too. Mrs Lyons will set a Zoom meeting for Tuesday morning so that the children will still get to spend time in the classroom with her - albeit virtually, The children really enjoyed it when Mrs Lyons popped in for a lesson this week and I know that Mrs Lyons was really impressed with the children.

This week in Maths the children have continued to explore shape. They have been learning all about parallel lines, perpendicular lines and symmetry. In English this week we have continued to explore our poem of The Spider and The Fly. We have written reports and have been concentrating on speech and using inverted commas. In RE we have been thinking about being a Christian and how sacraments help us to become closer to Jesus. We have also continued to think about relationships in RHE, thinking about what makes a good relationship and how we should behave.

This week we celebrate Max who has reached his 100% reading target this week. Well done, I have reset your target.

Our certificates this week have been awarded to Alex, Stan and Rosa.

This week we have gone for a cheeky 3 certificates. Alex receives a Focused Cooper Crab certificate for his amazing focus and concentration this week. Well done Alex. Being so focused this week has meant that you have done some super work. We are so impressed—keep up the good work. Well done also to Rosa who also receives a Focused Cooper Crab certificate. You are working so hard at the moment and being so focused on your work. What a great job you are doing. Keep up the good work. Well done. Our third certificate goes to Stan who was an amazing co-operative Roger Robin for your organizational skills and the way that you co-operated with your group in our History lesson. Well done Stan.

Iris received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners certificate this week and Christian received the Lunchtime Role Model of the week. Well done children we are so proud of you.

Things to Note:

Next week the children should have been bringing home their books, unfortunately there was not time to sort all of these today but we will make sure that we keep these safe and the children can have them in September.

The children have brought home their art shirts today. Please could these be washed and saved for next year when they will be needed again. Thank you.

What a super week of learning we have had. The children have all been so enthusiastic and ready to learn. This week in Maths we have been looking at angles and shape. The children have had lots of fun finding acute and obtuse angles, spotting symmetry and looking for parallel lines. Can you think of 4 letters that have a horizontal and a vertical line of symmetry? We have continued to delve into the poem of the Spider and the Fly. This week we have been crime scene investigators and have interrogated Mr. Spider about Miss. Fly’s disappearance and suspected murder. What fun we have had thinking of the questions to ask Mr. Spider and then writing our police reports. We have looked continued to think about how to be a good Christian in RE. In Science the children have continued to investigate magnets. We have been thinking more about the different relationships that we have and how we should behave towards others in RHE. Lots of fun learning about Claudius in history this week—he even visited and wanted everyone to help him decide whether to leave Rome and invade Britain.

This week we celebrate Harvey and Rosa (again) who have reached their 100% reading target this week. Well done children, I have reset your targets and I know that you are all going to keep on trying so that you can try to get there again before we break up for summer.

You have really tried to concentrate on what other people are saying this week Leon and that has had a big impact upon your work. Make sure that you keep this up and you will be amazed at what you can achieve. Well done and keep up the good work. Well done also to Molly-Ann who receives a Lizzie Ladybird because she is really trying hard to keep improving with all of her work. You are getting on so enthusiastically and really trying hard to get better all the time. Keep up the good work Molly-Ann.

What a lovely day we had on Wednesday when the children made their First Reconciliation with Father Peter. They were a little nervous before hand but all children emerged like butterflies from the cocoon, looking sparkly and shiny and new. There were a lot of smiles, a few giggles and all children looking happy that they had made their First Reconciliation. When asked how they felt once they had celebrated this beautiful sacrament, one child commented that he felt “accomplished and blessed” another saying that they “felt like the guilt had been lifted and taken away”. Everyone agreed that there had been nothing to worry about and said that they would not be worried about going to confession again. At the end of the day we had another little celebration with a few nibbles just to mark the occasion. Thank you for returning the slips about First Holy Communion, if you have not yet returned the slip expressing a wish for your child to take part in the Sacrament of Holy Communion in September, please return by Monday. Many thanks.

This week in Maths we have been looking at direction and angles. The children have had lots of fun turning clockwise and anti-clockwise and working out which way to turn. Have you ever stopped to wonder how many angles there are in different letters? We had great fun working out which letters had 4 angles. We have continued to delve into the poem of the Spider and the Fly. We have been investigating vocabulary this week. We have looked at the story of the Good Samaritan in RE and thought about what God would want us to do. In Science the children have been investigating the strength of magnets. We have been thinking about the different relationships that we have in RHE. Another little video for you to watch of some of the things that we have been up to this week. We hope that you enjoy it.

Georgia receives a Lizzy Ladybird certificate for her efforts to improve. You are being really focused, brave and enthusiastic with your learning Georgia and you are trying so hard to keep improving with your work, especially with your maths. What a star you are being. Well done! Well done also to Anncia who receives a Sadie Spider certificate for being so resilient with her learning. You just keep on trying and trying and trying Anncia and we are so proud of you and everything that you do. Well done and keep up the good work.

Things to Note:

It was wonderful celebrating sports day this week. The children were super and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Working together as a team to earn points that we were then able to add to whole school total was wonderful and the children really tried to work together. Plessington were the winners for our class, followed by Marsden, Harcourt and then Bamber. When our points were added to the whole school total, the overall winner was Plessington followed by Harcourt, Marsden and then Bamber. It was sad that we could not invite you to celebrate with us but we hope that you enjoy the photos, in the little video below showing how much the children enjoyed themselves.

This week, we have continued to explore our poem of the Spider and the Fly and this is proving really popular and exciting. We have had great fun reciting the poem and using different voices for both the spider and the fly. Connor Sean and Tabby, you were absolute stars! Well done also to Charlie who enjoyed doing this so much he went home and performed for his family. We really loved the little video of you reciting it that you sent via email. Thank you. In Maths we have revisited our addition and subtraction facts thinking about number bonds and strategies. We have continued to think about being a Christian in our RE and what Christians do to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. In Science the children have continued to learn about magnets and how they can be used as compasses.

Evan you are always so brave and resilient and eager to find ways to do things that are tricky. You never give up and you just love a challenge. You amaze us all—well done!

Things to Note:

Father Peter has arranged to come into school and celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the children next Wednesday—June 23rd. Please chat to your child about this and encourage them to think about what they are going to say. We will be talking about this in school too. Hopefully the children will be able to celebrate their First Holy Communion at the beginning of the Autumn Term. Please read the letter which has come home today and return the form to school by Monday. Many thanks.

Well, I have to say the children have come back after their half term break, totally refreshed, bursting with enthusiasm and excited about the learning that they are going to be doing over the next half term.

We had an absolutely wonderful start to the week with 2 children - Franek and Daisy getting their pen licenses within the first quarter of an hour of being in school. What a start and it has set the tone for the rest of the week, with lots of hard work and enthusiasm. We have started our new English unit of the Spider and the Fly and there has been much excitement and chatter about spiders since then (a few jumps too - including from myself!!) I think we are going to enjoy this unit. The children have also come back into school very excited about their reading. Already we have quite a number of children who are well on their way to reaching their reading targets having read lots during the holidays and then quizzed as soon as they have come back into school. In Maths we have been really practising our number skills and thinking about quick recall. We have also been thinking about our place value and where about on the number line different numbers go. We have started looking at the preparation lessons for Holy Communion. The children have all brought home their “Called to His Supper” books and will need to complete this over the next few weeks. Our virtues for this half term are generous and grateful. The children have been reflecting on the gifts that they have been given by God and thinking about ways that they can be generous and share these gifts with others.

Let’s Celebrate:

This week we celebrate Owen and Rosa who have reached their 100% reading targets already. Wow -you have been really busy reading and quizzing, well done.

We have celebrated more pen licences this week, starting first thing on Monday morning with Franek and Daisy and then Owen gained his pen licence during the week too. All of these children are now able to use a pen in their written work. Well done children - keep up the lovely handwriting.

This week we our certificates have been awarded to Tabby and Charlie.

Tabby receives an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee certificate for her enthusiasm and cheerfulness this week. She has come back to school like a little ray of sunshine, ready to share her thoughts and ideas with everyone. Well done Tabby. You have been a little star this week. Charlie also receives a Bobby Bee certificate for his cheerfulness and enthusiasm this week too. Charlie, you have been so positive and happy to share this week. You too have been bubbly and enthusiastic and ready to share with others and ready to support them too. Well done Charlie. keep up this good work.

Lunchtime Role Model of the week went to Max and Jacqui’s Marvellous Manner went to Tabby. Well done to both of you. These awards always make us so proud.

Things to Note:

Father Peter has arranged to come into school and celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the children on June 23rd. Hopefully the children will be able to celebrate their First Holy Communion at the beginning of the Autumn Term, provisional details will be sent home shortly.
Our Sports Day is on Wednesday next week. Please make sure that the children have shorts and t.shirts, (tracksuits if cooler) a cap/sunhat, sun lotion and a water bottle. There is no PE on Monday or Tuesday next week as other classes will be completing their sports day activities. Unfortunately with restrictions still in place, we will not be able to invite parents this year but we do promise to take lots of photos.
PE on Fridays is going to be outdoor PE this term so please make sure that the children have trainers and their PE kit. Many thanks. (Monday and Tuesday outdoor PE lessons will continue as normal—just not next week.)
Leo has misplaced his swearshirt. Please can you have a look at home and return it to school if you have the wrong one. We have looked in school and haven’t located it. Many thanks.

It might have been the last week of this half term but that hasn’t meant that we have slowed down with our learning. The children have continued to be very enthusiastic with their work this week, demonstrating what they have learned and being real Bobby Bees. Well done children. You are all ready for a well earned rest and chance to recharge your batteries. When we get back to school for our final half term, I know that you will put every effort in to making the remaining 6 weeks in Year 3 amazing.

This week in Maths we have continued to practise a wide variety of skills in our fluency and to keep our skills ticking over. We have also continued with our measurement work and read scales of different increments in order to measure capacity, length and weight. The children have needed to use their counting and multiplication skills to help them with this. In English this week we have written more information leaflets all about the Romans. The children have been keen to demonstrate all the different skills that they have been learning. We have been focusing on complex sentences and correct use of commas and also on writing questions too. Neat handwriting has also continued to be a focus and we have celebrated even more Pen Licences - see our celebrations below. Well done children. In RE, we have learned all about Pentecost and how Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help His disciples and how the Holy Spirit can help us too. The children have written lovely diaries as though they were one of the apostles. In RHE the children have been looking at relationships and forgiveness and how we can show our love for others through this.

Well done to Harcourt who were the winning house in our class this week. It has been lovely to see you in your own clothes. I wonder which team it will be in our final half term.

Georgia you have really listened to advice and that has really helped you. Well done keep up the good work. Alexander receives an enthusiastic Bobby Bee certificate this week Well done Alexander. It is so lovely to see you getting excited about your learning. You have been really joining in with our learning this week and your hand has been up whenever we have asked questions. Well done, we are so proud of you. Keep up the good work.

We are also celebrating Evan who got our Lunch Time Role Model of the week and Nicola who received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners. Well done children, we are so proud of you.

I know that everyone has worked hard this term and deserves a well earned rest and I hope that you all have chance to relax and enjoy some time to do the things that you want to do. I also know that the children are very keen Lizzie Ladybirds and want to keep improving their skills so I have made a list of some of the things that they could to to keep those skills ticking over during the half term holiday. (These are all optional and the children can choose to do whichever ones they want to do.)

DT:

Mrs Curtis has set the children some Food Tech homework for the half term. Visit the art page for full details. Our food tech challenge for the holiday is making a fruit crumble. (my favourite.- I think I might just have to join the children and make myself a rhubarb crumble - yummy!) Make sure that you take a photo or two before you eat it and send them to Mrs Curtis. Have fun and enjoy eating it.

Read, read, read. Find a good book and a quiet place to read and just get lost in your book. Enjoy!

Handwriting:

Continue to practise your handwriting - select a sentence out of a book and copy it carefully using your cursive handwriting. Remember to make sure that you form your letters and joins carefully and correctly. Think about where the letters sit on the line.

Spellings:

No spellings to learn for a spelling quiz when we return to school but see if you can look at the spellings covered so far this year and see how many of them you can remember how to spell. Good Luck!

It has been lovely to speak to you all about your wonderful children over the last few days. Thank you.

The children have been very enthusiastic in their work this week. Maths has been all about reading different scales and measuring. In English this week we have been writing information leaflets all about the Romans. The children have certainly learned lots about the Romans and have worked hard to apply different grammar skills in their writing. Well done everyone. Neat handwriting has continued to be a focus and on Wednesday we celebrated our first Pen Licence - see our celebrations below. I’m sure that there will be more before half term. In RE, we have been thinking about how Jesus friends must have felt after his death and also about Jesus’ ascension into Heaven. More magnet work in science.

This week we have gone for a cheeky three certificates and we are celebrating Edi, Ruby-Lilly and Alex who receive our class certificates this week. Edi receives a Tommy Turtle certificate for always being such a brave learner and always eager to have a go. You always have your hand up to answer questions and you will always try again if you make a mistake. You have a great growth mindset. Keep up the good work Edi and keep believing that you can do it. Our second certificate goes to Alex, who also gets a Tommy Turtle certificate Well done Alex. You are being such a brave Tommy Turtle with your learning at the moment and you are being so enthusiastic too and having a go with a smile. We are so proud of you. Keep up the good work. Our third certificate goes to Ruby-Lilly. Well done Ruby-Lilly, you are such an enthusiastic Bobby Bee and you always bring a ray of sunshine into our classroom. How the week has flown!

Although it has been a short week, there has been lots of work done. Maths has been all about adding and subtracting fractions. This has been really exciting. In English this week we have been thinking about prepositions and writing sentences using these, finding specific information in text and writing more complex sentences. We are continuing to make sure that we are copying words correctly and checking on our punctuation. Handwriting has also been a focus. In RHE, the children have thought about how God loves us so much and how He knows exactly what we are doing, wherever we are. In RE we have been thinking about how we can see Jesus in both ourselves and in others. More magnet work in science and in Geography the children have been comparing places in England to places in the Arctic.

This week we celebrate Millie (double whammy), Rosa, Angel, lily-Mae, Nicola and Connor-Sean who have achieved their 100% reading target this week. Well done children - keep up the good work!

We are also celebrating Iris who receives a Sadie Spider certificate for her resilience and determination when learning. You are really growing in confidence Iris and we are so proud of how you always put so much effort and enthusiasm into your work. You are always such a focused learner and want to get better with your work and to learn new things. Well done Iris. Keep up the good work. Millie you receive a Creative Kiki Chameleon certificate for your beautiful, creative psalm this week. It was so thoughtful and descriptive. We also celebrate your amazing reading achievement this week. By reading such a tricky book and getting so many points for it, you not only reached your target but you reached it twice in one go. WOW!!! Well done Millie, keep up the good work.

Another busy week in Year 3. There has been much enthusiasm and lively buzz in the classroom. We love to see the children enjoying their work and growing their brains.

Maths has been all about finding fractions of amounts and shapes, equivalent fractions and ordering fractions too. The children have really had to use their tables facts to help them with their work this week. All that practising on TT Rockstars is really making a difference. Keep up the good work children. In English there has been a race to try and reach reading targets. As you can see we are celebrating two children reaching theirs this week and I know that other children will be reaching theirs next week as they are soooooo close to getting there. Lots of reading over the weekend perhaps?? This week in our non-fiction topic of the Roman Empire we have been picking out important information in texts, we have been asking and answering questions, writing lots of different complex sentences and creating our own black out poetry. We are also making sure that we are really checking on our punctuation, presentation and spelling, especially when we are copying words from the board or books. This can be quite a tricky skill to make sure that it is done accurately. In RHE, we have thought about how God loves us so much and how He knows exactly what we are doing, wherever we are. In RE we have looked at the story of the Road to Emmaus and how the disciples realised that they had been talking to Jesus. We have been listening carefully to what God is saying to us and what He wants for us in our liturgy sessions this week. In science we have continued our work on magnets and have been looking at the force field that magnets display.
