Water Parks Day 2

What an amazing day we have all had! After a surprisingly calm and restful night’s sleep, the children were up and ready to go this morning. We have been so proud of how all the children have eased in to their new routines and embraced every opportunity they have been given. There has been incredible team work, acts of bravery and a steely determination to try new activities.

To make the day even greater, it is Adam’s birthday and what an unforgettable day it has been! We have made sure throughout the day he got all the ‘birthday boy’ preferential treatments from being first up the magic ladder to leading his team up the ghyll (even ‘seconds’ at dinner time). After dinner, we all gathered together to sing for the third time today ‘Happy Birthday’ and celebrated with this magnificent cake, that we can’t wait to tuck in to as our evening snack!

Mrs Harrison and Mr Nay’s group today, enjoyed a lovely canoe across the lake to do a spot of climbing up a rock face. Then this afternoon, we had wind surfing on the lake- the children were fabulous at this!

Mrs Mather’s group had a wonderful walk up the ghyll this morning and then in the afternoon faced their fears on the ‘leap of faith’ challenge and balancing on top of poles.

Mrs Webster’s group this morning completed the high ropes challenge and climbing and then had a very wet walk up the ghyll this afternoon.

We really could not ask any more of these children, they are giving everything such a good go, but most importantly working as a team and really looking after to one another.

What a pleasure they are to take away! They will most definitely sleep well tonight after such an active day!

Water Parks Day 1

We have arrived and we couldn’t have got off to a better start. After a very excited lunch, the clouds parted and the sun shone ready for our afternoon activities.

Mrs Harrison and Mr Nay’s group were up to their knees in the ghyll and it wasn’t long before we were all bobbing about laughing in the water and pushing our heads under the waterfall.

Mrs Mather’s group had a much more relaxing afternoon, gently canoeing back and forth across the lake.

Mrs Webster’s group mastered the art of sailing this afternoon, but the biggest thrill was most definitely jumping off the Jetty in the late afternoon sunshine. You may have heard the squeals of delight all the way back in St Anne’s.

We think everyone will sleep well tonight, ready for another fun day tomorrow.

This power was most certainly evident in the Year 6 classroom this week and as Mark reminded us on Wednesday (May 4th) that it was in fact the annual Star Wars Day! So, with this in mind, we have decided that every day, we are going to say ‘may the force be with you’, to remind ourselves that we hold this power, our inner strength, to do the best that we can, and as we remind the children daily, that their best is ALWAYS good enough. This week in class, the children have most certainly given just that… they have worked incredibly hard, as Mrs Gregan has said they have done all year round.

Year 6 Weekly Blog - 'Listen to Jesus and follow Him. That is the true message of the Transfiguration.'

After a week of quietness and absence, our class family has slowly and surely regenerated. Thankfully, we are all now back in class and back to full health. It has made us all realise just how important our time together is and when people are missing, it affects us all. Thank to you all for being so careful and for following guidance. You have kept us all as safe as you possibly could.

Let's go swimming...

Please make sure your child is at the gate on Kenilworth Road for 8.35am, ready to go swimming.

The children need to bring their kit with them in a swimming bag:

  • Swimming costume/swimming shorts

  • Towel

  • Hair brush

  • Long sleeved top / leggings or trousers (for water safety)

We are very excited to get there and complete our swimming curriculum.

Year 6 Weekly Blog - 'Don't be afraid to take on the biggest of challenges, they offer the greatest reward.'

We have reached the end of a very busy half term, and what a half term it has been. I know I say this most weeks, but I really am in awe of the work that the children are completing and the expectations that they have of themselves. Whether it be science, maths, music or art, the children always get fully stuck into their learning and become immersed by what they are being taught. I am so very proud of them all.

Year 6 Weekly Blog - 'Evolution is the secret for the next step.'

Evolution and Inheritance is one of my favourite units of work to teach because it is packed with questions. Throughout history, humans have been required to adapt and change in order to not only survive - but to thrive! Quite often, change can be seen as a scary prospect, one that makes us feel vulnerable and uneasy. However, it is during these times that we grow and see just how much strength we have.
