"Oh we’ve had some great adventures And you know we wouldn’t have missed it for the world"

July 18, 2025 Natalie Gregan

What a final week we have had in school and it has been all about this remarkable group of children and celebrating their legacy that they have left here at school. On Monday and Tuesday, together with our Year 5 class, they set sail on their greatest adventure; bringing Peter Pan to life. The show was spectacular in every sense of the word. Following this was the leavers’s mass and then their day out yesterday. On behalf of the entire school community, we thank them for their service and wish them all the luck in the world as they head off on their new adventures.

We have also said goodbye to four members of staff today. Mrs Webster, Michelle in nursery, Miss Hanlon and Miss Bray. Miss Bray has recently secured a job at her daughter’s school meaning that she will not join us in September. We have laughed, cried and celebrated these four extrordinary women today; thanking them for all that they have given.

As a result of Miss Bray leaving us, Miss Slater will now be moving into Year 4 and Miss Forster into Year 2 from September.

Reflections of your childs year in school

Leading Learners from across the school and STAR Virtues

These children have been voted for by the children in their class for the STAR virtue and for leading learning this year.

We have also awarded our STAR charter awards to every child in school today. Then 70 children were awarded the STAR charter distinction award having been nominated by their parents over the past 4 weeks! Thank you to everybody who has been involved in this. It will continue to grow next year!

Our Year 1 classroom is having a makeover during the summer holidays with a new roof and a bit of paint inside. Miss Bassett and Mrs Hartley are eager to get in there and make it look really exciting. They are after a few things to make it homely for the children. Over the summer if you have any of these things, please can you put them to one side? Crates, cable reels and baskets please.

A few weeks ago a group of wonderful parents took part in a charity football match alongside our children; I think the adults enjoyed it more! This photo really sums us up, we have a group of parents who really do get stuck in and give everything. I think there was even a motivational speech from Mr Leyden in there! We cannot thank you enough for the cards, the kind words, the emails and comments you have made over the past few days. We really do read them all and they always make us smile. It has been lovely to welcome our parents in more and more this year and to show you what we see every day. Next year, we need some parent volunteers for Forest School. With Miss Lavelle heading off on maternity leave and Mrs Tierney taking the helm, she will need some support. Forest school will run on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon next year and we will need support at each of them. If you can give your time before pick up on these days, please do let me know complete the form below indicating which days you would be able to support.

Forest School Volunteering

All that remains for me to do is wish you all a wonderful summer holiday. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 2nd September.

God bless

Mrs Gregan
