On of the biggest honours of doing our job here in school is seeing past pupils go on to be amazing human beings. I love visiting St Bedes to hear what the children have been up to and next Thursday I have been invited to their Presentation Evening for Year 11 pupils. On Tuesday, 42 young men and women descended into school to start their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation which will take place on Tuesday 18th November. It was lovely to see them all mix and to hear which Saints that they have chosen to be their Confirmation name when Bishop Paul asks. Their second and final session takes place next Tuesday. Please do pray for this group of young people over the next few weeks.
This weekend is Remembrance Sunday, a day when we come together to remember the fallen heroes of war and those who are still fighting for peace and justice. Thank you to those of you who have brought poppies in for our Chapel. Today our Mini-Vinnie President has been busy starting to attach them to the chapel, adding on to the previous ones that still remain. Please do add to them over the weekend and bring them in next week to be attached. On Tuesday, our Year 6 children will be walking down to Ashton Gardens to take part in the Service of Remembrance for Armistice Day.
Weekend Challenge - Can you make a poppy for our poppy cascade?
Christmas is Coming…
Whether you are in the camp for Christmas is ready to come, or that it can stay away a little bit longer, in school we are forging ahead with our plans. In this week’s staff meeting songs from nativities could be heard and scripture collated as we plan to bring the greatest story ever told to life. Next week, the travelling nativities will start to make their way around each family’s house (meaning that every child will receive it). In it there is a lovely book for you to draw, write or reflect. It doesn’t just have to be the children, the adults can also write in it. These nativities are a way of bringing the whole together as we start our pilgrimage.
There are lots of events that will take place in school on the lead up to Christmas - I will share these with you next week. On Friday 5th December, at 9:30am, we will be having a Walking Natvity in our school grounds. This is something new and we wanted to use our chapel and forest school area to celebrate the natvity fully. The idea is that the children will line the way for Mary and Joseph to make their way; guided by the light. We will then gather at the stable and sing some carols together. We hope that if you are able to join us, you can do, and share in this new tradition that we want to establish.
Maths Workshops - Teaching our Parents
It isn’t just our children who have been thinking hard this week, but our Year 1 & 2 parents aswell. Mrs Hotchkiss wears many hats in school, her roles are endless, but one that you may not know about is her being a Leading teacher for the Maths Hub. This sees her support lots of teachers in their own understanding of maths. On Wednesday she taught a very large groups of parents how to play games over the next few weeks to secure number facts. Thank you so much to everyone who attended - we hope you have lots of fun at home in the coming weeks.

Whole School Attendance
The winter snacks have certainly gone down a treat this week and been enjoyed by all! Below you will find the booking form for next week. Please complete this before 8am on Monday morning when it will close to allow for ordering.
School Sport
This term has seen a record number of children represent the school in either football or netball. On Tuesday a group of Year 4 children, ably supported by a few Year 3s, took to the football pitch for the first time - and we could not have been prouder of their attitude and work ethic! Despite not getting the results they wanted, they never gave up and enjoyed every moment of it. In the spring term, it will be our Year 3 children who will experience the same thing. Please can all kit that is at home be returned to school next week. Thank you.
For those signed up to Monday and Wednesday morning clubs, these start next week.
Have a wonderful weekend with your family and friends.
God bless
Mrs Gregan
