"It's our choices ... that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities"

With only three days of learning left before the holidays, the children are remaining as focused as ever in order to achieve those half term goals. Maths lessons have been filled with sequences and counting forwards and backwards in 2s, 5s and 10s. The children have been busy solving problems by finding missing numbers and have been giving some great explanations and reasons as to why they have given certain answers - the use of mathematical vocabulary has been great.

In English we have continued reading our focus story ‘Meerkat Mail’ and have focused heavily on the adjectives used within the postcards. We then began planning our very own meerkat poems by brain storming all of the words we could use to describe meerkats. I can’t wait to read the children’s finished poems next week.

During RE sessions this week we have been busy learning all about the story of Moses. We thought deeply about why that path was chosen for Moses and had wonderful discussions about how we thought Moses’ family would have been feeling. We then used our Purple Mash skills in order to write the story in our own words.

Let’s Celebrate

We are lucky to have such a ‘Co-operative Roger Robin’ in our class Iris.  You are always the first to step forward if anybody in our class needs any help with anything and you always speak with such kindness and compassion.  You work so beautifully with your learning partner, whoever it may be, and offer such wonderful words of encouragement.  Thank you Iris!

Stanley, it has been great to see so much enthusiasm towards your learning this week.  You have come into class each morning with such a huge smile on your face and have thrown yourself into every task you have been given with great confidence.  You have shared your ideas so openly with the class and have listened carefully to advice about how to improve.  Well done Stanley!

Notices

Thank you for all of your kind donations towards our Harvest collection for the food bank. Please could any remaining donations be brought in on Monday.

Danceathon - Every child was given a sponsorship form for our annual dancethon this week, which will be taking place on Tuesday 29th October. On this day, we will dance our socks off in order to raise money to enhance our outdoor area and the trim trail. As always, we will be warming up with a few dances on the playground from 8:15am. You are all welcome to join us.

Tempest Photographs - Tempest Photograph company will be in school on Wednesday 16th October to take your child’s Year 2 class photograph. We do not have yoga on this day so children can wear normal school uniform.

Harcourt and Marsden are the winners of the most learning points this term and so can come to school wearing their house colours on Tuesday 15th October.

Finally, please could you have a quick check in your child’s hair for head lice and complete the necessary treatment if needed. Thank you.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Woodend and Mrs Connolly.
