I HAVE to start by saying a big well done to every one for their performances in the Nativity this week! I’m sure, like me, you are all so proud of your children for what they achieved and how confidently they spoke out and performed. They have also been so independent whilst getting themselves ready before and after each performance and have helped each other in so many different ways, from getting changed to remembering lines. Well done Year 2 - you have shown just how much you have grown over the last couple of months and you retold the story of Jesus’ birth so beautifully!
In amongst all of the Nativity performances, the class have also continued to complete some superb learning. They have been busy writing instructions in English and have been completing some really tricky subtraction challenges in Maths. We also found time to introduce our new History topic ‘The Wright Brothers’, which will take us into the first weeks of learning in the new year!
Thank you to all donations towards our Christmas Jumper and Silly Sock Day. We cannot wait to count up the money and reveal the final amount raised for Brian House this year!
Let’s Celebrate
Thank you for your enthusiasm in our classroom Leo. You listen so carefully to teaching and learning and always put your hand up to share your ideas. You absolutely love a challenge and are always excited to see what is next. Keep up this enthusiasm in the new year Leo and you will continue to make so much progress!
Harry, you have tried really hard this week to be a real ‘Co-operative Roger Robin’. You have listened carefully to instructions and have followed them sensibly in our classroom. It has been lovely to see you making such super choices and you have spread many smiles because of these. Keep this up Harry, it has been such a pleasure to see.
Notices
Thank you to those who have donated small amounts towards our Cafod World Gift collection. We are looking forward to counting the money next week and choosing a World Gift to buy for those less fortunate than ourselves. Any further donations will be greatly appreciated next week.
Don’t forget that it is our much anticipated KS1 Christmas Party on Thursday 19th December. On this day, children can come to school in their favourite party clothes, ready to dance the morning away! Please do remember however, that the children will still be playing outside and so must be wearing sensible footwear. A small drink (not fizzy) and snack (a chocolate bar or a packet of crisps are ideal) can also be brought into school on this day for the children to enjoy after the party. I for one already can’t wait for the party games and maybe even a visit from a very important person in red!
Well done to Marsden who were awarded the most learning points throughout this half term. You can come to school wearing your house colour on Friday.
The Christmas holidays begin at 2pm on Friday 20th December.
Have a wonderful weekend with your families,
Miss Woodend and Mrs Connolly
