"Think and wonder. Wonder and think."

Our week in year 1 has been full of exciting learning; there have been 30 curious Clara clownfish in school each day. The children have been so brilliant at asking questions and challenging their own thinking, in order to better understand. This was particularly evident in science; the children continued their learning about the different animal groups (mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds). If you spy any furry/hairy/scaly/slimy or feathered friends over the weekend, please challenge the children to tell you which animal group they belong to.

In English, we have continued with our focus story - Dangerous. We have begun creating story maps so that we can retell the story with actions and enthusiasm. I will be posting a copy of the story map on the blog - when we have finished it. Then, the children can share the heart-warming story of Mole and Crocodile with you too!

Thank you to all of those who attended the Induction Evening. It was so wonderful to meet you all properly and share the children’s learning journey with you. We hope we answered all of your questions, but if you do have any concerns please don’t hesitate to ask. If you were unable to attend the Induction Evening, please do get in touch if you have any questions.

Yoga stars - Bella and Archie. You were both so peaceful and mindful this week. Well done!

Class Tiger

This weekend the class tiger has chosen to come home with Faye! Faye you are such a role model to all of the children in Year 1. You stop, look and listen as quick as a flash and always put all of your effort into your learning. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with the Tiger and remember, don’t leave him alone in the kitchen!

Let’s Celebrate

Determined Sadie Spider- Gabriella - For being so resilient during Read Write Inc. lessons! You have been determined to perfect your sentences and have not put your pencil down until you have achieved your goal. You have even challenged yourself and added adjectives to your sentences. I am so proud of the progress you have made, well done you

Enthusiastic Bobby Bee - Erin - For being a bundle of joy and spreading enthusiasm throughout the classroom. Erin, you are always one of the first back into the classroom after break times, always with a big grin and most importantly eager to learn. Your enthusiasm for learning has grown your brain so much this week! Hip Hip Hooray!
