'Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom' By Aristotle

Well, what a wonderful week we have had in Year 3! It has been so lovely getting know all of your lovely children and we now look forward an an exciting year ahead. The children have come back, most of the time, with their junior heads on. They are all so eager to contribute in class and enthusiastic about their learning, we just need to remember not to shout out at times- something to work on for the rest of the year.

This week we have looked closely at our learning characters, how we can create the ‘dream’ classroom (where we can all learn and feel valued by one another) and how we can use the virtues ‘learned and wise’ to know ourselves better. The children thought deeply about their own gifts, what qualities they want to develop during the year and how we can use these gifts to help one another throughout the year. We have also now kick started our English topic on fables, where the children had to predict what they thought happened when they listened (not watched) the soundtrack to a fable film- I have to say there was some very interesting predictions, although it was very difficult (and funny) to predict from the sounds we heard!

Reminders for next week:

PE Tuesday and Wednesday

Induction evening Wednesday 6pm in Year 3- I’m looking forward to meeting with you all.

Please can we make sure that all school uniform is labelled, there are a couple of jumpers and a pair of shorts in the classroom waiting to be claimed.

Could I also ask that children remember their water bottles and bring a healthy snack (one or two) as the mornings are longer in juniors.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I will see you next week, ready and raring to go.
