Year 2 Remote Learning - Monday 22nd February

Good Morning Year 2! I hope you all had a lovely half term and managed to find time for lots of rest and relaxation. Let’s have a look at Monday’s learning - I’m sure your brains are ready to go!

Don’t forget friendly February!

Maths

Get that brain back into times tables with a short burst on TT Rockstars. Don’t forget to keep your eye on the Garage - this may change to Gig for some of you who are ready for a second assessment.

Remember to create your pictogram on Purple Mash today.

English

Today we’re starting a brand new English topic. I can’t wait to discover where your favourite places to visit are! Can you persuade me to go?

Science

Today is your final habitat lesson. Watch ‘Can a city be a habitat?’ then complete the activity.

RE

During the holidays, I’m sure many of you enjoyed some delicious pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Ash Wednesday then followed the day after - a time where we normally all gather together as a school community in Church to receive our ashes on our foreheads. Click the button below to discover a little more about Ash Wednesday.

When we receive our ashes, the priest says “Repent, and believe in the Gospel”  OR  “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”.
What do you think these words mean? Reflect with a family member.
Today I would like you to imagine that you are the priest. Can you make up a phrase that could be used when putting ashes on someone’s head? For example - this is a sign that you are a follower of Jesus.

Then I would like you to write a short acrostic poem using the word LENT. Think of a sentence beginning with each letter from the word and describe what we as Christians do in Lent. For example:

Lent is a time to repent and fast.
Every Christian makes time to pray.
Never forget what Jesus did for us.
Time to stop and think.

I have created a 2Do on Purple Mash. On this document you can record your phrase for the ashes and create your Lent poems.

Have a wonderful day,

Miss Woodend
