Year 3 Weekly Blog 17.11.23 - ‘Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner forever.’

Our class worship was led by Mia-Grace, Fletcher and George. They read Luke 7: 1-10 The faith of the Centurian and chose the hymn Shine Jesus Shine for us to sing as a class together. We also sang our favourite song My Lighthouse. Mia-Grace, Fletcher and George will be our Prayer monitors next week.
In RE we have thought about people who give us advice and how God guides us along the right path.

The Greenling by Levi Pinfold

In English, We have read The Greenling By Levi Pinfold. The children have shown me what fantastic readers they are this week - making predictions based on pictures and thinking about the feelings of characters. We agreed that at the start of the story Mrs Barleycorn wasn’t a very nice character, unlike Mr Barleycorn who showed what a kind caring person he was and backed up our opinions with evidence from the text. We’ve thought about what the story reminds us of from real life, other stories and film and our own experiences. You can listen to the story here…

In Maths we have been thinking about the relationship between the 2 and the 4 times table. We have learned that the products in the 4 times table are double the products in the 2 times table. Therefore, products in the 2 times table are half the products in the 4 times table. Keep practising those times tables year 3, you are doing so well!

Our learning about the Stone Age spanned 9,000 years this week; we learned about the progression from hunter-gatherer to farmer. The children made fantastic inferences and thought about the impact this had on their life and ours today!

The children have continued practising their Viking Song with Miss Woodend in music, how wonderful! The children had a very cosy Friday, whilst raising money for a very important cause, Brian House. Thank you for your support!
