Year 2 weekly Blog Friday April 12th " Blessed are those who haven not seen and yet believe"

What a wonderful first week back. Our new virtues for this half term are learned and wise. There have been so many moments this week when the children have wisely listened and shared their understanding with one another - it has been a special week. At the heart of our learning was the message and hope of the resurrection. We listened to the Acts of the apostles and discovered that they shared everything (money food and land) and that when they were arrested for preaching about Jesus, God sent an angel to open the gates of the jail!

This week we have been on a mission to share what we believe and trust God will help us On Thursday Wren Jude Clayton and Barnaby led us in a beautiful worship - thank you!

CONVERSATION STARTER

Ask your child what a food chain is. Draw one together and label it with the following words: Producer, consumer, prey, predator. Ask your child what a producer is and why it is called that.

MAGIC MOMENTS

I’m not going to lie - we were sooooo busy that we forgot to take photos! We took just one of us on Friday - you will notice how exhausted we all are. We worked so hard. Together have: explored multiplication; read persuasive text; written a persuasive recount of a day out; painted in art: used a paint package in computing; reasoned about food chains in science; created sequences in gym; made a sound scape in music and even had a fun session on shape!

LETS’S CELEBRATE

Our whole class received the butterfly this week for being learned and wise!

Our Certificates went to Scarlet for being a resilience and determined learner and Henry Oliver for his focus and concentration. Well done!!!

Lunchtime awards went to: Heidi (role model) and Patrick (marvelous manners)

NOTICES

PE remains on Tuesday and Thursday (short are always needed on Thursday)

Next week we have been asked to trial some Reading assessments for NFER. The children have been informed that a gentlemen will be coming into school to give us two reading quizzes. The children’s responses will be used to standardize assessment questions so they (NFER) are able to produce accurate results in the future. I have been asked to share this letter with you.

Have a lovely weekend for the whole Year 2 team
