Year 2 weekly Blog Friday 10th May "He keeps the door open for humanity to enter"

This week, on the week of our Lord’s Ascension, the children have come together in prayer and thanks giving. Before Mass on Thursday, we revisited the story of the Ascension and reflected on how Jesus is always us. Later in the day the children led a beautiful worship during which they asked us to reflect on ways we show God’s love. The children were so articulate in describing their daily acts of love. It is clear how confident the children are now at leading the class in this way- it is a favourite moment of the week.

The Rosary- we have also spent time learning about the Rosary. Time to reflect and pray on the life of Jesus. During this time we prayed for our own special intentions and Year 4 who make their Holy Communion this weekend.

MAGIC MOMENTS

At the beginning of the week we received an email from “Peter Feathers” who was opening a new bird sanctuary. He had heard that we were bird experts and that we also knew how to write a persuasive leaflet. He gave us all the details we would need and asked us to write and design his leaflets. What a responsibility! And what focused writers we had in class! Great work Year 2. In maths we dived into the 5 timetables and reasoned about these as we have with the 2 and 10 times tables. We also had our weekly shape session during which we refined our ruler skills, children reflected on their last piece of work determined to improve - what Isabella Insects they are. There was much excitement on Wednesday as we got creative with Miss Neve in art and Mrs Maano taught us how to make an interactive e-book (we loved this). In HRSE we reflected on how to get better at something - we watched a NUMBOT story online all about practicing “a little and often”. In class we now have all 18 stages of Numbots on the wall and the children have their pictures displayed celebrating progress. In science we have kept an interactive diary of our bean seeds as they germinate using the app- Book Creator. We rounded the week off with “Show and Tell” as promised - we love listening to all our news and sharing exciting family events (we have two brand new puppies!).

CONVERSATION STARTER - GOING DEEPER

Have a conversation about the wonder of nature as it blossoms all around us!

Do you remember our assembly at the beginning of the year when we were inspired by the book “The Last Wolf” when the little girl decided to plant trees. To our delight 25 of our chestnut seeds have germinated and grown!!! We are now looking for homes for our 25 trees. Do you know a good spot?

GREEN DAY next FRIDAY- Let’s keep looking after God’s beautiful home!
