Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday 3rd October "Love plants the seed love makes it grow"

"Truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you"

(Matthew 17:20)

We’ve explored the power of faith this week in prayer and reflection. In one of our worships we shared out a jar of mustard seeds. We discovered that they are so very very tiny and Jesus used this small seed to tell us that our small faith is all that is needed to connect to God. He will always respond to our faith and prayers. In the RE lessons we completed our work on Gods Creation. We had a wonderful lesson during which we went outside and recreated pieces of art using materials found in the natural world we were inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. The children loved his art and were clearly inspired! Then on Tuesday we made little helping hand messages for Father Peter - we hope he is well soon (shhh it’s a surprise!)

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

This week we completed our fourth Kidsafe Lesson. As with all the sessions, we take time to discuss and reflect on things that might give us “Yucky Feeling” (sad worried or sacred). This week we talked about body parts particularly “private parts”. We learnt that we are the BOSS of our body and that our private parts (covered when we swim) are never to be shared or touched by another person. After this we explored secrets and we have a good understanding of good secrets and bad ones. We finished as always, with our message about talking to a trusted adult. Press the button below to read the parents letter to support this session.

Please do talk to your child about what they have learnt/remembered this week

MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING

In English this we have learnt all about nouns and adjectives. On Thursday we got creative as we used this understanding to write noun phrases - we loved it. In science we tested each other on what all living things do. Your child may have brought home the little game we played - they asked if they could. Each pair had 7 pieces of paper on each is a letter: MRS GREN - the children had to pick a folded piece of paper- unfold and say the letter e.g N - they then had to explain what N represented (N=nutrition all living things take in food). The letters represent- M= movement R = respiration S =sensitivity G= growth R= reproduction E= excretion and N=nutrition. In history recreated freeze frames of historical pictures of Grace Darling and tried to understand why she is often shown on her own even when we know she saved the people with her father. We had many moments of magic - but I do want to say how ready to learn everyone is - so much focus!

Can you spot those drowning in the background!

Focused scientists!
