Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday 10th October ""Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean", to which Jesus replies, "I am willing; be clean!"

The Sacrament of Baptism has been at the heart of our RE lessons this week. The children were great as we re-enacted the ceremony in class. The little dolly was beautifully baptised and named Anne. The children have learned that a scarament is an action through which we see and feel Jesus’ love. Next week we continue with these baptism lessons but we need a picture of our own baptism or a family member. Please send me an image so I can print them off and use them in class. Thank you. On Tuesday George, Elijah and Bertie led us in a beautiful Rosary. The boys selected a crown, flowers and a heart to place on our class altar and we loved using our Rosary beads from home. We will be saying the Rosary again next week so we are going to hold onto the beads for a few more days. Sadly, I was so busy praying I forgot to take a photo of the worship but I have included one of the beautiful altar below. Alongside this is an image of Jesus with the leper. The children felt the Gospel so deeply this week. The loving compassion of Jesus is so clear to see. We took part in our first meditation as a class and it was beautiful. You will have noticed that your child brought home the image we used to help us focus - they may want to chat to you about it.

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

This week we completed our Kidsafe lessons. It was a tricky lesson as we talked about the times when people argue and how that can make us feel. We reflected on why this might happen and how these arguments are not our fault. In addition we thought hard about what to do if we felt worried sad or scared about something we hear. The children did share how important their siblings were at home and how they are helped by their brothers and sisters.

MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING

This week we have played football, explored microhabitat and macrohabitats in science, and we wrote our first book review. We read some cracking books - all fairytales with a twist! Maths has challenged us as we used lot of practical equipment to represent numbers in tens and ones. The children love Wednesdays when they get to express themselves artistically with Mrs Mather and computer code and sing with Miss Woodend. Thank you children for being so focused and kind.
