Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday December 5th "The show must go on!"

Today the children joined the whole school community in our very first special walking nativity! We are keeping Jesus at the centre of all our prayers and actions. It was very exciting to see a real donkey next to our very own chapel/nativity scene. It was lovely to share this with some of our parnets and grandparents- it feels like Christmas!

The children have worked so hard, with Year 1, to put the Nativity play together. We have sung danced and laughed in the hall as we watched some unruly sheep and three very funny camels. On Thursday we worked on the final scenes and on Friday we put it all together. When God comes among us as a tiny baby, he comes to be close to us, he comes to be held.

We have a deep understanding of the nativity story now, although we have talked about funny camels not being in the bible. Kira, Dee Dee and Kian have led us this week in prayer and worship (thank you). The word of the week was messenger and John the Baptist featured in our liturgies. He calls us from the wilderness telling us to get ready for Jesus. Our play will certainly help us all feel ready for for the family celebrations to come.

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

Even though it has been fun putting on a play. It has required alot of patience, emotion and energy. When we’ve returned to class it has been hard to transition back to learning. Our brains where a little frazzled. Then one afternoon we where completing our My Happy Mind lesson and we took part in a breathing session. It was WONDERFUL for pupils and teachers a like. Chat to your child about how “happy” breathing helps them physically and mentally. Click on the image below to open a breathing video

MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING

As you can see, the play has dominated our learning this week. We have however, kept our spelling and reading sessions going and we’re cracking bridging in maths. In English we listened to the mess Toad got into in Wind in the Willows and we joined the whole school in the walking Nativity! Only a few images this week - saving all the best nativity snaps for next time!
