This week we turned our attention to our school STAR CHARTER. We have reflected on the things we have achieved together. We have achieved a great deal. We planned and shared and liturgy with Year 4, raised money on our sponsored walk and made rosary bracelets on a visit to the Parish centre. This week we explore the Book “The three trees”. The children listened so carefully. It is a story about dreams and and ambitions and how God has a plan for all of us. How will we serve Jesus is the furure? We are now thinking hard about how we can respond to Pope Francis Laudato-Si. We’ll keep you posted!
On Tuesday the children led us in prayer as we listened to The feeding of the 5000 and spent still time with the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
This week we studied Grace Darling. Ask your child who she is and what she did. Can you think of other people who did extraordinarily brave things. You could draw a picture of Grace in action for our home learning wall.
MAGICAL LEARNING MOMENTS
This week we have completed 2 different reading quizzes. These are quizzes we complete at the end of the year, on our own, to check we are on track with our learning. We had to work silently and be patient allowing everyone time to finish. We were a great team! In maths we’ve explored the adding of 2 digit numbers when there is bridging involved. We looked at different approaches and reflected on the most efficient. We decided that partitioning just one number was the best and then adding this other number to the other using a number line. The children were absolutely brilliant - I’ll pop it on the homework on Monday. As you can see we from above started our final history topic this week and we have enjoyed PE in the sun with Miss Bassett. On Wednesday Mrs Mather took us for double food tech as we learned to grate and cut! I know how much the class love art and deign technology because they completed there own reflections on Year 2 for their end of year reports and it was clear that Mrs Mathers lessons are loved! Thursday was super busy, we all ran during the Gym Jam Jog, then we had toast before maths, spelling and then poster designs in English. Then in the afternoon we had one of our enrichment sessions this time with Mrs Lyons. She taught use how to play card games. There was much excitement when I returned from Reception as the children couldn’t wait to tell me what they had learnt to play. Why not grab a pack of cards and have some fun together - chase the ace was definitely mentioned.
LET’S CELEBRATE
This week our Learning Award goes to Olivia Howcroft. Olivia has confidently embraced her learning showing independence and determination. She is also an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee.
Our Virtue Star is Aubree - a wonderful new big sister and a kind and loving member of the class!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
TRIP WEDNESDAY JULY 2nd -We will be visiting the Lifeboat station in St Annes as part of our local history study. It would be lovely (weather permitting) for us to make a bit of a day of it. We are due at the lifeboat station at 10:00am after this we could go to Ashton gardens for a picnic and play. Then down to the beach for some fun team tasks.
Looking for one more volunteer.
