This week our Word of the Week has been Saviour. We talked about what this means and how Christians believe that Jesus is our Saviour because he shows us God’s love and helps guide us in the way we should live.We have listened to the Gospel story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. We learned that even though Jews and Samaritans usually did not speak to one another, Jesus still stopped to talk with the woman. This showed us that Jesus cares for everyone and treats all people with kindness and respect. We reflected on how we can follow Jesus’ example by including others, being kind, and showing care to everyone we meet.
In RE this week we learned about the Last Supper and explored how it connects to the Mass that we celebrate in church. We talked about what happened when Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples and told them to do this in memory of him. We looked at different parts of the Mass and compared them to the Last Supper, noticing what is the same. We recognised that the bread and wine, the words Jesus said, and the gathering together to share a special meal are all important parts that continue in the Mass today. This helped us understand how the Mass helps us remember and celebrate what Jesus did at the Last Supper
Thank you for taking the time to help our children reflect and write in our Lenten Prayer Books. They will continue coming home next week, please do take time to share and look through the prayers books, there are some beautiful reflections.
Going deeper in conversation.
How can we show kindness and include everyone, just as Jesus did in the story of the samaritian woman at the well?
Remember even the smallest acts of kindness never go unnoticed - can you share a smile, your time or kind words? Think about the little boy who share his bread and fish when Jesus fed the 5000.
This week’s learning.
This week we have been busy learning across many subjects. In Maths, we have been finding unknown values in addition and subtraction equations, using what we know about number relationships to help us work out the missing numbers. In English, we have been organising information into clear paragraphs. We researched facts about Julius Caesar and used what we found to write a short informative paragraph. In Computing, we explored Scratch and practised some of the skills we have been learning during this unit of work, beginning to understand how coding works and how we can create simple programs. In History, we discussed the question “Should the Romans invade Britain?” and thought about different reasons for and against the invasion.
