Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday 9th October "• : “A map is the greatest of all epic poems. Its lines and colors show the realization of great dreams.”

What a super busy week! In RE we consolidated our understanding of Baptism. Together we thought hard about all the symbols used at Baptism and what they represent. Then we made a symbol spinner matching the symbols to their meanings. You’ll be able to see it when you come for the book look on Tuesday 20th at 2:30pm. Then today visited church to meet Father Peter. He showed us the font, water, oil and candle and helped us to understand how through Baptism we join our parish family. Thank you to our worship team (below) who led us in a Rosary - this was followed by Father Peter collecting us all together to share another decade on Wednesday. Finally look carefully at this image below - behind the altar is our new baptism display with the wonderful pictures you sent!

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

This week we explored our uniqueness - we discussed how everyone is so different and how these differences are brilliant. Then we made a “unique envelope” - we drew all the things we love- pictures of family, friends, pets, hobbies and more. We cut these out and popped them into our special envelope. What makes your family unique, what is wonderful and special about it?

MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING

Well the Geography caused much excitement. Mrs Hotchkiss set up a map reading/code breaking task on Monday and the class were so good at it that on Thursday the children had to make their own code cracking map trail. It was fun!! In maths- we’ve had all the equipment out exploring numbers to 100 - grouping in tens and ones. In English we’ve finished the Jolly Postman, written out final letter and completed a book review!! Our teddies arrived on Wednesday to help us with our drawing skills and we’ve learned how to draw straight lines with a ruler - thank you Mrs Hunter!

LET’S CELEBRATE

This week our Virtue Star is Maggie. Thank you Maggie for being a wonderful friend a great learner and a loving member of our class family.
