We have entered the season of Lent and the wheel turns on our school year. This week we have reflected on what we remember about the events of Holy Week. A little shout out to George, who remembered so many details linked to Palm Sunday and the Crucifixion- he was not the only one!We then turned the classroom into an art gallery and we learnt how to look at pieces of art in a new way. We thought about how these made us feel and what we liked about them. The art focused again on the events of Holy Week. We discovered how important art is because, there were no photographs or films taken when Jesus was here. Then we produced our own piece of art centred on the words Jesus said when he was being crucified. ( Did you spot some in the hall?) We discovered that even though he was suffering he forgave the soldiers and the crowd. We asked ourselves if we too freely ask God to forgive others when they wrong us - not easy to do.
Thank you for the beautiful Lenten boxes. We talked about how precious something is when it has been made with love.
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
Time to talk about your Lenten box. We had a great discussion about what we could do to raise money for the box. We thought this week we could bake some biscuits and ask our family members to pop some money in the box before they took one. Sydney suggested that you charge family members to go into the toilet (we had a good giggle) and decided this might not be fair! Send pictures of your baking and we’ll share in class.
MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING
We’ve been adding multiples of ten to two digit numbers. We are able to explain how importnat it is to look for number facts hidden in the equation. In English we started reading our class novel- “The Owl Who is Afraid of the Dark”. We loved the first two chapters. We made predictions and we’re learning how to summarise the events! Spelling has been tricky with letters changing sound and we are learning to appreciate in our My Happy Mind sessions. We loved Mrs Mathers art lesson and Miss Woodend popped in to teach us computing - she misses us! Mr Nay had us busy outside - we’re working on our fielding skills. Finally we spent time with the people we love the most - we hope you enjoyed our book look!
LET’S CELEBRATE
This half term we are being INTENTIONAL and PROPHETIC and our star this week is MARCEL. Marcel is allows intentional. He listens with care, spots his teacher is ready (everytime) and he is a loyal and caring friend (fun too).
Our Learning Certificate goes to Amara, who is a Kuba Crab and resilient Sadie Spider, too wonderful learning behaviours!
