Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday 27th March "Trust the Magic of New Beginnings"

Mrs Hotchkkss had some time away from the class this week - but she left lots of lovely learning! Mr Jaunatre had great day on Tuesday, the children had the opportunity to reflect on reconciliation once more. This time the children were presented with images and art depicting reconciliation. Through this, they thought hard about what the art was telling them, about our relationship with God and one another. After this session on art appreciation, the children then produced reconciliation pictures of their own. When Mrs Hotchkiss was present, we practised our Palm Sunday assembly. We we’re very excited about sharing our performance with you and we do hope you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for helping us with our lines!

Hosanna! Hosanna!

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

New life! This week we have welcomed into the world our 5 little chicks. We have shared moments of pure awe and wonder. We needed to stop lessons and just sit and witness God’s creation in action. This week I hope you have time for a spring walk to witness the budding plants the warmth of the sun.

MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING

We are cracking on with the 2 timestable in maths finding the product using skip counting. In English we have sustained our diary writing. We each have our own little “chick diary” and Mrs Hotchkiss is checking to see if we are now writing with care completely on our own! In reading we have researched chickens and we’re writing our own factual book all about them! In Geography with Mr Jauntre, we went to Africa and discovered that there are 54 countries and one of them is called Kenya! We will be comparing Kenya to England in future lessons. Mrs Mather guided us through Wednesday and there was some very careful close observational drawing of the egg shells from which our chicks hatched. Fnially, our assembly - we do hope you enjoyed it! It always feels like Easter once our special assemblies begin. Below is a film of the chicks hatching and then pictures of us handling them for the first time!

This week our VIRTUE STAR winner is a child who is intentional everyday. He is so kind, calm and selfless. Thank you Jack for being part of our class family- we are so lucky.
