STAR CHARTER - SUNFLOWER GROWING CHALLENGE set by Year 2

Dear All,

Each year Mrs Gregan sets us all off on our Star Charter Challenge. One of our challenges is to responsed to Pope Francis Laudato-Si - caring for our common home. We’ve had a donation of sunflowers into school and Year 2 have decided to make everyone a packet of seeds. There are ten seeds each. We then noticed that the sunflowers carry strong symbolic meaning in Christianity, primarily representing unwavering faith, devotiona nd steadfast love. Because the flowers exhibit heliotropism—turning to track the sun across the sky—they serve as a powerful metaphor for believers continually fixing their focus on Jesus, the "Light of the World”.

Please enjoy planting these seeds at home. Take care of them over this coming summer. Please do send in images of your sunflowers for us to celebrate.
