This week, the children explored the Parable of the Good Samaritan, which teaches us about showing kindness, compassion and love to everyone, just as Jesus taught us. The children discussed how the Samaritan helped someone in need, even when others chose not to and we reflected on how they can be good neighbours in their own lives. Through stories and lots of discussion, the children learned the importance of helping others, showing empathy and treating everybody with respect.
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
Whilst you are together at home or out and about this weekend, it would be wonderful if you could encourage the children to perform small acts of kindess, helping those around them and talk about ways they can follow Jesus’ example in their everyday lives.
MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING
This week, we have been learning about the Amazon Rainforest and we have discovered that it is located in South America. We looked at a map and explored why it is one of the most important habitats on Earth! The children also learned about the Yanomami people, an indigenous tribe who live in the rainforest and depend on lots of its natural resources for food, shelter and their way of living. After lots of insightful discussions, we gained a super understanding of how people and the environment are connected. Mrs Hotchkiss has continued to work so hard with the children in Maths, focusing on a subtraction of two digit numbers, which is really tricky stuff! Miss Brookes has taught the children how to create a digital quiz this week and the children thoroughly enjoyed quizzing one another on all of their prior learning! Mrs Mather is delighted with our creative approach to our ferris wheels in DT and we had an important lesson all bout water safety!
LET’S CELEBRATE
We have been on the hunt this week for a curious and active learner and a superstar! This week, we could like to celebrate Bertis and Jaxon. All of the children in Year 2 continuously work so hard every single day, but this week, we have been particually impressed with these two children. Well done Bertie and Jaxon.
SPECIAL EVENT- Tuesday 7th July
As you know - each year we endevour to complete Mrs Gregan’s STAR CHARTER CHALLENGE. We have almost completed all the challenges, but we haven’t raised money for a special charity. A the end of last half term we had a whole class planning meeting and the children overwhelmingly voted to raise money for “Little Hearts Matter”. They would like to go on a “Healthy Heart Walk” down to the beach - where they will makes hearts in the sand using sticks, pebbles and shells. We may stop for an ice-cream before returning to school. Then later in the day at 2:30pm we would like to invite our families and anyone else who would like to come to a singing concert were we will perform songs all about the heart and love! Of course you will have to pay for your ticket to our concert - price to me decided!
If you are able to volunteer to join us on our Health Heart walk to the beach please drop Mrs Hotchkiss an email - thank you!
