Year 5 Weekly Blog 26.06.26- ‘Happiness and work rose up together with the sun, radiant like it’

Well it has certainly been a week life no other at Our Lady’s! temperatures sky high with suncream and cool downs being the main theme for the week. The children have been taking some end of year quizzes across English and Maths this week, in which they have been applying their retrieval skills across various types of questions.

Wednesday was certaintly a highlight of the week with our annual ‘Gym Jam Jog’, in which the children would have been delighted to spend the rest of the day in cooling loungewear. To end our heatwave, we were all treated to a visit from the Mr Whippy van for a refreshing and well needed ice cream.

Conversation starters

Geography- We have been completing fact file quizzes on ANTON for the countries playing in this years World Cup. Can you remember an interesting fact about one of your countries? Something that you didn’t know before?

Let’s Celebrate

Virtue Star of the Week: Our virtues for this half term are curious and active. The star this week goes to Lucia. Working in these weather conditions is certainly no easy task and yet you have powered on this week, without a fuss, and continued to throw yourself into all of our activities this week. You have done this too with such a positive mindset and openess to include everyone else.

Learner of the Week: Our certificate winner this week goes to Scarlett for being a creative and enthusiastic learner. Poetry can be difficult, especially because the style of writing is so different from what we usually do throughout the year. However, you have smashed our Highywayman topic this half term Scarlett, throwing all of your enthusiasm and creative writing skills into your stanzas in which you have produced a beautiful final display for this.
