And just like that, we have finsihed our penaultimate week of Year 5! A week where we welcomed back the blazing sun (and sticky humidity) with there being plenty of suncream worn and water drank. With lots of extra curricular activites taking place, it was a rush to finish our last remaining units of learning in Year 5. In RE, we got our quiz heads on and we had a look back at all of our units that we have covered this year. Each team were given a different unit to create a quix in order to test the other teams. In English, after re-writing our versions of part one of the highwayman, we tucked into part 2 to find out how our historic story finished, with many children getting their predictions correct.
Lots of our Year 5 children have really been baking in the sun this week with some end of year sports competitions. We took a group of children to Stanley Park, Blackpool for our first entry into the BEBCMAT sports festival, our newly formed academic trust. The children ran their socks off, jumped into the sandiest of sandpits and bounced countlessly in a variety of different physical activities. The following day, our girls cricket team took part in the Lancashire County Finals at the newly opened Lancashire Training Ground. The girls played with such enthusiasm and showed some excellent progression from last weeks competition.
Conversation starters
Reflection- It is always good to reflect when a journey comes to and end and to also discuss the new journey to begin?
What have you loved the most about Year 5? What will you miss?
What are you looking forward to the most about Year 6?
Let’s Celebrate
Virtue Star of the Week: Our virtues for this half term are curious and active. The star this week goes to Louisa. You have been so active across the entire year Louisa. You have worked your socks off. It is all of your hard work to why you have had such a brilliant year in Year 5. Make sure to carry this into Year 6.
Learner of the Week: Our certificate winner this week goes to Anna for being a resilient and entusiastic learner. On Wednesday, you did something that you don’t usually do- compete in an athletics event outside of school. You had such a positive attitude throughout the day (regardless of the extreme heat) and you had a go at everything. It was children like you, with your attitude and response across the day, that made the event such an enjoyable afternoon for us all.
