We can't wait to welcome you all back to school for what promises to be a very exciting year filled with challenges, fun learning, leadership opportunities and service. We are busy getting everything ready for your arrival and know that, as soon as you walk through the door, you will begin your journey as the wonderful leaders of our school.
This is your final year at Our Lady's, so let's make it the best one yet! Together, we will aim high, achieve everything we are capable of, celebrate one another's successes and inspire the younger children in our school through our words, actions and example.
House Captain Speeches
Don't forget to send in your House Captain speeches. We are so excited to watch them and see all of your fantastic ideas.
Deadline:** Friday 4th September**
Leadership Roles
During our first week back, we will be focusing on leadership within our school and exploring how our two new virtues, Compassionate and Loving, are at the heart of being an excellent role model.
Children will:
Apply for the leadership roles they would like.
Reflect on how they can make a positive difference within our school community.
Think carefully about the kind of leader they hope to become throughout Year 6.
Equipment
Please make sure children bring:
A small pencil case containing everything they need for the school day.
Pencil cases must be small enough to fit inside chair covers or trays. Unfortunately, any that are too large will need to be sent home.
Please also remember to bring a named water bottle every day to help keep everyone hydrated.
PE
Indoor PE – Tuesday Afternoon
Children should come to school wearing their school tracksuit. They will also need a pair of shorts (either worn underneath or brought in their bag) to change into for indoor PE.
Please note that we do not wear trainers for indoor PE. If there are any issues regarding this, please contact us.
Outdoor PE – Wednesday Morning
Outdoor PE lessons will take place every Wednesday, with our first lesson on Wednesday 9th September.
Art & Design Technology
Art and DT lessons will take place every Wednesday with Mrs Mather
Please send your child in with a named art top or old shirt to protect their uniform. This will be kept in their tray throughout the term.
Homework
Homework will:
Be sent home every Thursday afternoon.
Be due back the following Wednesday.
We really appreciate your support in helping children complete and return their homework on time. As Year 6 prepares children for the transition to high school, developing responsibility, organisation and accountability is incredibly important. These routines will help make that transition much smoother next year.
Induction Meeting
Our Induction Meetings will be on Wednesday 9th September at 3.45pm or 4.45pm
During the meeting, you'll find out more about
the exciting topics and learning planned for the year,
residentials and special events,
expectations for Year 6,
SATs preparation,
and there will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Forms
Please complete the permission and medical forms below ready for the new academic year.
