Year 2 Weekly Blog Friday 11th September "How do you spell "love"?' asked Piglet. 'You don't spell it... you feel it,' said Pooh”.

Together we are being loving and compassionate! This comes so naturally to very young children. Their natural default is to reach out and help others (who wouldn’t want to be a teacher). The class have worked so hard together finding their feet with new routines and expectations. In RE we explored the difference between Noah and the other people at the time of the flood. Through drama, we explored the “sins” people got up to and then we talked about how this behaviour moves us away from God. Later in the week we made a list of all the things we can do to move back to God. What a long list! Just like Noah, we can be beacons of hope we don’t need to be unkind.

Hope RupertH and Harry have led us all week in prayer and on Tuesday they delivered the first children’s liturgy in class - it was beautiful

GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION

This week in our Kidsafe session with KS - we explored what a bully is and how to interact with a person who has choosen to bully. It was important for us to understand that it is never OK to keep being unkind over and over. We had a wonderful discussion about why someone might be tempted to bully. Below is the parents letter to go along with this session. Please do have a chat to you children - let them explain their new understanding

MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING

We’ve explored tens all week and we have made the link between models, images, the written words and the digit representation. We know multiples of ten end in zero and we can use a place value chart! In English we have pretended to be one of the Three Bears and we wrote to Goldilocks! We’ve listened to all the Year 6 children’s House Captain speeches and voted ( we absolutely loved these!). We too stood for Class Council and Eco -Council. See below who got the most votes!!! Mrs Hunter joined us on Wednesday and she had a lovely day. Finally, thank you to everyone who was able to join the induction evening it was lovely to have sometime with you at the beginning of your children Year 2 journey.

Here is the Powerpoint shared during the Induction session
