Our class worship this week was beautifully led by Alana, Ellie-Rose, George L, Hugo and Louisa. Thank you to them for sharing their thoughts and helping us to reflect together. During our class liturgy this week, we reflected on the theme of change, We thought about how much we have changed and grown over the past year—not just physically, but also in our learning, our friendships, our confidence and the way we treat others. We considered how we would like to continue to grow throughout Year 6. We talked honestly about the fact that we will all make mistakes, but that mistakes can help us to learn, reflect and become better versions of ourselves. Most importantly, we explored how God’s forgiveness gives us the opportunity for a fresh start. Just as we learn from our mistakes and try again, God is always there to forgive us, guide us and help us to grow. We reflected on how we can show this same forgiveness and kindness to others.
In our RE lessons, we have been exploring the relationship between science and faith. We looked at the scientific work of Catholic scientists, focusing particularly on Georges Lemaître, who was a Catholic priest and scientist.
In Maths, we have continued working with equations represented using bar models. We have been using both written and mental strategies to work out unknown addends and explain our mathematical thinking.
We have continued reading our class novel, The Nowhere Emporium, and have been developing our writing skills by creating complex sentences using -ed and -ing sentence openings. We also completed a reading comprehension based on Chapters 1–5, showing our understanding of the characters, events and vocabulary within the story, as well as creating a story map of the story so far.
We have enjoyed learning about Henry VIII’s wives – who they were and how their marriages ended. We then looked more closely at Catherine of Aragon, exploring some of the highs and lows of her life and beginning to consider her experiences during Henry VIII’s reign.

Class trip to see ‘The Terrible Tudors’ at The Grand Theatre Blackpool on Thursday 15th October. We will need a couple of volunteers for this trip. If you are able to accompany us on this trip, please email Mrs Naylor. Cost of trip will be £18 and can be paid on Parentpay.
