Before bed last night, we shared the most beautiful night-time prayer together. We were led beautifully through a time of prayer and reflection by Sophia, one of the wonderful Castlerigg youth workers who has been with us throughout our stay. She encouraged the children to reflect on the words from Isaiah 43:1–3 and think about what this scripture means to them personally.
The children were invited to think about times when they may have struggled, felt worried or needed someone to turn to for comfort and support. They reflected on how, during these difficult moments, they can turn to God and trust that He is always with them, guiding and supporting them.
It was a really peaceful and meaningful way to end our day, and it was lovely to see the children taking the time to be still, reflect and listen.
‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.’

The focus of today has been ‘How can we shine our light?’ and ‘Who helps us shine our light?’ We worked in our small groups and built on yesterday’s sessions when we thought about how can share our light with others— showing kindness, supporting those around us and thinking about how our actions can make a difference.
This afternoon, we headed off to Castlerigg Circle for some much-needed fresh air, reflection and a chance to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It was lovely to see them simply enjoying being together, taking in the stunning views and spending some time in God’s wonderful world.
Just before tea the children had the opportunity to take part in some creative activities, making banners, candles, salt jars (like sand jars) or Rosary keyrings. The children have been fantastic and have represented themselves, their families and our school so well. We are incredibly proud of them.
There is a buzz of excitement around the place now, the children are having some social time - relaxing, playing pool in the games room and conker hunting around the beautiful grounds.
After prayers in the chapel tonight, the children will have a chance to spend their money in the tuck shop before rounding off our day with a party!
We are due to depart Castlerigg at 1pm and, all being well, should be back at school for around 3pm. We will keep you posted with updates on our journey home.
