Homework Deadline 28.09.26
Thank you all so much for supporting your children with their homework this week! The spellings are coming along fabulously and many have told me how much they enjoyed practicing their times tables on TT Rockstars!
Handwriting and Spellings…
In the homework books this week, you will find a spelling sheet stuck inside. The children have been put into groups for spellings, which has helped us to know which spellings they need the most support with. These spellings are just some of our Year 1/Year 2 and Year 3/Year 4 statutory spelling words that we must learn this year. Whilst this sheet is great for learning spellings, it is also a wonderful opportunity to remind your children about neat handwriting. We are really focusing on our handwriting in class at the moment.
Just a little reminder that we can only stick the spelling sheets into books that are returned on time. Please can we ask that homework books are brought back to school on Monday 28th September. Thank you!
Maths…
As we move into our next unit in Maths, our focus will be on securing our place value knowledge to 100. We want to make sure the children feel confident recognising, reading, ordering and understanding numbers, as well as knowing the value of each digit.
To help prepare the children for this next unit of work, this week’s Maths homework will focus on revisiting and practising place value skills. We’ll be encouraging the children to practise these skills in a fun and interactive way, helping them to build confidence without it feeling like a chore! Please find below some online games that they can play:
And, of course, times tables are always a must! In particular, please keep practicing the 2s, 5s and 10s. TT Rockstars is a fantastic way to practice! Regular, short bursts of practice are a great way to help these facts become quick and fluent.
Reading…
Please find time to read with your child as much as possible. It would be wonderful if they could read aloud to you and equally lovely if you could read stories to them too. Bedtime can be a wonderful opportunity to make reading part of your daily routine and enjoy some special time together.
Please could I also ask that your child brings their reading book into school each day.
