‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.’
Helen Keller.
While the Year 6s have had their SATs we have been outside on the field with Nursery, although we have been out of our routine, we have managed to teach Phonics outside. The children have been amazing.
We ended our week with a visit to Church to look at the features with Father Peter for our RE lesson, we then went to the Parish Centre on the way back to school. It was a lovely morning.
Conversation starter
What can you remember about our visit to church?
What have we been learning this week:
Maths: We have continued reviewing 5 and a bit, discussing what each number represents this week was sausages in a pan how many were burnt and how many weren’t. We use the stem sentence …. needs…. to make 10 (4 needs 6 to make 10) and 10 is made of … and … (10 is made of 4 and 6) please practise this at home so we are fluent with our number bonds to 10 ready for Year 1 next year. You can use anything at home to represent these numbers and you can play how many are hiding, reminding the children how many there are to start with. While they are practising they can use their fingers to start holding up 10 and putting down how many they can see e.g. 10 pasta twirls, 6 are out 4 are hiding under a piece of paper, they can put 6 fingers down and see they are left with 4.
Understanding the World (science): We have been learning about the Water Cycle our key vocabulary is:
Evaporation: heat makes water rise (action hands moving from the ground to the sky)
Condensation: air gets cold, it turns the water into clouds. (shivering action, arms crossed moving up and down)
Precipitation: water or snow falls out of the clouds. (hands moving down from the sky to the ground rain action)
Accumulation: Water gathers into seas, oceans, lakes, rivers, ponds, streams. (arms come together to hug yourself)
We created our own water cycle experiment too!
Forest school: It is just group 1 on Wednesday 21st May.
Let’s Celebrate:
Well done to our certificate awardee: a ‘Bobby Bee’ you are enthusiastic in everything you do, you have been working so hard practising your sounds and blending.

Important Information and Upcoming Events
Pizza Express: A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Fenwick who have organised our school trip. It will be on Friday 13th June.
We have loved having your support with our trips, if you or another family member are able to join us please email me.
As always thank you for your support, without you a lot of the opportunities wouldn’t be able to happen.
There will be more information and the cost of the trip will be on the blog next week, I just need to confirm all the details.
Show and Tell:
Thank you for the show and tells this week, they have been lovely. We have loved hearing about your trips celebrating achievemnts and seeing your wonderful crafts.
Please look below to see which day your child can share their show and tell news. We love to celebrate each child’s achievements in class. So we use show and tell as an opportunity to share things that they are proud of, or to share something that is important to them. Great show and tell examples are: sharing photos, bringing in certificates or medals, a souvenir from a trip out or something that they have made at home.
Important Reminders:
Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.
PE
Our PE days are Tuesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.Art T-shirt
Please can you bring in an art T-shirt, if you haven’t already, these help us keep uniforms as clean as possible.Jumpers: please can you check that your child has brought the right jumper or PE jacket home, they can easily get mixed up when bags are being packed, there are a few missing in class, thank you.
