'Play with children, show them the joy of who you are. Together you can create the Kingdom of play'

Greg Botrill

We discussed how God’s world is good and created a beautiful mural page in our floor book drawing things we loved that God had made.

Conversation starter

Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

What is your favourite thing God has created?

What adventures have we been on this week:

We are reviewing the 16 sounds learnt so far this week and next. Please practise at home and ask your child what can you hear at the start of a word. We have been Fred talking (saying each sound) then blending together orally so try this at home. for example what word have I said h a t. hhhhaaaattt hat.

Questions you can ask your child:

Front cover: What do you think this story will be about?

Prediction: What might happen in the story?

Connection: Does this book remind you of anything else you've read or seen?

While Reading:

What can you see? What is happening? or What has happened so far?

How is the character feeling?

What do you think might happen next?

After Reading

Did you like the book?

What was your favourite part and why?

Can you retell the story?

Why did that character do that?

How does this story make you feel?

Has anything like this ever happened to you?

Would you like to be that character?

Maths: We have been focusing on triangles and circles this week, asking how many sides and verticies (corners, where the sides join together) each shape has. Triangle 3 straight sides and 3 verticies, Circle 1 continous curved side, 0 verticies. We went on a shape hunt around school to find shapes in the environment.

Today we learnt about Frida Kahlo and created our own Frida inspired self-portraits.We will continue these next week as the children have enjoyed learning about her and looking at her paintings.

Let’s Celebrate:

Well done to our certificate awardee: A ‘Cooper Crab’ you have been very focused with your learning this week especially in drawing club.

Our PE days are Wednesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on.
