This week, we gathered together for our class liturgy, where we reflected on the theme of companionship through Matthew 11:25–30. We talked about what makes a good companion and discussed how we can follow Jesus’ example by showing kindness, encouragement and support to those around us.
In Maths, we explored parallel and perpendicular lines and identified them within a range of different polygons. We used our new knowledge to describe the properties of shapes accurately and identified similarities and differences. In English, we continued studying the fable The Spider and the Fly. We shared what we like and dislike about the story so far and thought carefully about what the spider might be thinking. We discussed his plan to trap the fly and identified the persuasive language he uses to try to lure her into his web.In Science, we carried out an investigation into shadows. We explored how changing the distance between a light source and an object affects the length of the shadow. We made predictions, took careful measurements and looked for patterns in our results.
Next Tuesday, Year 3 will have their transition morning in Year 4 with Mrs Lyons. This week, they got a sneak peek at the year 4 classroom with Mr Cornwell whilst whilst Year 4 were out on their trip.
We had a special visitor in Year 3 this week, Miss Bailey, a Year 10 pupil from St Bedes, spent a few days in class for her work experience. The children were kind and welcoming and appreciated the help and support Miss Bailey gave them. Miss Bailey enjoyed being with us so much that she said she wished she could stay longer. Thank you for your help this week Miss Bailey.
