What a lovely week we have had in Reception. During our RE sessions, we heard the good news that Jesus was born in a stable and placed in a manger. Some of the children then decided to create their own manger and stable using our junk modelling materials in our creative station. It was great to hear the conversations they were having with each other whilst making their creations; discussing who was there when Jesus was born and how they must have felt.
Our child-led prayer and liturgy then linked to this beautifully as the children told us about the shepherds visiting baby Jesus. Our prayer leaders drew their own images of the shepherds and placed them in a photo frame on our worship table.
Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.
Conversation starter:
What adventures have we been on this week?
It has all been nativity practice on Thursday and Friday, we are excited for our dress rehersal on Tuesday and will have our final practice on Monday (dress dress rehersal). Please continue to practise your lines in a clear voice, there has been a huge improvement this week, so thank you we can see you have worked hard at home :)We are looking foward to you watching us on Wednesday and Thursday.
Pen Disco: This week we have started pen disco it is our next step in our fine motor skills journey, the children have loved it and it’s been a great start to our morning.
UTW: We continued our learning about hibernation and built some dens for the animals that hibernate. Our Maths linked to our topic this week with day and night we read night monkey, day monkey by Julia Donaldson, we then looked at nocturnal animals and when they sleep and discussed activites we do during the day and night creating our own visual timetables.
Home challenge: from the week beginning 1st December we will be discussing our family celebrations and traditions, please could you send me photos of any special family traditions/celebrations, it can be things you do at certain times of year (Christmas/Easter etc) or things you like to do as a family, and a bit of information if possible.
Once again thank you for those who have shared photos with me, it really helps your child learn as it is something that is relevent to them and their friends. They are so proud to share their photos with the class and it gives them confidence to talk in front of an audience.
