‘The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.’

B.B. King

This week in RE, we continued exploring the beautiful message found in Mark 10:16, focusing on how Jesus blessed the children. The children learned that Jesus didn’t just welcome the little ones—He placed His hands on them and blessed them, showing deep care, love, and value for each child.

We talked together about what a blessing means and how Jesus’ actions showed that every child is precious and loved. The children shared wonderful ideas about moments when they have felt loved or cared for, helping us make connections to how we can “bless” others through our own kind actions each day.

In class, we practised giving simple blessings of our own—through kind words, helpful hands, and warm smiles. It was lovely to see how thoughtfully the children reflected on ways they can make others feel special, just as Jesus did.

Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

Conversation starter:

Who could you give a small ‘blessing’ to in our classroom or at home, and how?

What adventures have we been on this week?

This week we read The Little Red Hen, we wrote about the characters and started to sequence the story. In art we have designed our clay animals and are looking forward to making them next week, we have continued to compare Kenya and England and found them on the globe.

We have been so impressed with our sounds and blending, so please keep practising at home. When your child is learning to blend encourage them to sound out each letter and have a go, to start you may need to sound it out back to them e.g. c a t then slowly blend together c aaaaaaa t to help. It will take time and repeatition is key. They will need to sound out/ read the same word multilple times before they begin to recognise it. If you have any questions or would like to see a demonstration of how you can support your child at home with their reading let me know and I can show you after school.
