‘Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him’

John 2:11

What a busy week we have had, as you are aware we have had some special visitors in school, we are so proud of them. They have shined while they have joined us in class.

This week we had lots of fun learning about Lent and how people all around the world get ready for Easter. We discovered traditions like the Stations of the Cross in Ireland and the amazing flower carpets made in South America. We also wondered about the foods people enjoy before Lent, discovering Miss Woodend’s favourite Easter treat - a toasted, buttered hot cross bun! We also thought about what churches might look like in other countries, with flowers and pictures of Jesus.

Our key words this week are care, Lent and world, which the children used brilliantly in their discussions.

Our Prayer Leaders finished the week beautifully by leading a calm and thoughtful prayer and liturgy all about bread and wine, linked to the story of the Wedding at Cana.

Conversation starter:

Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

Can you think of a time when you helped someone, or when someone helped you?

What adventures have we been on this week?

This week we heard a different version of the Three Little Pigs, ‘The true story of the Three Little Pigs’. Our writing is getting better and better each week! We have been busy practising our assembly we are excited for you to watch it next week.
