‘The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother.’

St. Therese of Lisieux

It has been another busy week. We have started to learn about the key events at the start of Holy Week in the lead up to Good Friday when Jesus died on the cross.

Our key words this week are Holy Week, Jesus and Good Friday, we have been retelling Palm Sunday with our small world and reflected on the Last Supper during our Child led liturgy.

Over the next few weeks we will continue to reflect on the events leading up to Good Friday during our RE and liturgies in preperation of our Holy Week assemblies during the final week of school.

We had our assesmbly on Thursday, thinking about Mary who our school is named after and our own Mother’s who all do so much for us and we appreciate and love you. I am so proud of all the children, it is a very difficult job to perform infront of a crowd, it was lovely to see the hall filled so thank you for you support.

On Wednesday we partnered up with Year 4 to watch one of our Reception children’s baptism, we had learnt about baptism at the start of the year. So we loved being a part of special day welcoming her into God’s family and seeing what happens.

Conversation starter:

Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

What made you feel proud of yourself this week?

What adventures have we been on this week?

We have been making 7 in different ways using 2 colours with multilink and saying the Stem sentences …. and …. make 7. Keep practsing at home you can use anything, pasta, hair clips, cups, paper. You need two colours and ask your child to show you 5 and 2 make 7, they should have 5 of one colour and 2 of the other. It is quite tricky so can take some time. We have been looking at how to care for plants so we can grow our own beanstalks next week when we start our new book Jack and the Beanstalk.

Our next writing challenge, please watch the video below:

Mother’s Day: Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday, we hope you enjoyed watching our assembly here are the photo’s of your child with their paintings, don’t they look great!

Well done to our certificate awardee: a determined ‘Sadie Spider’ you have worked so hard this week in Phonics, you keep trying and trying and never give up, we are so proud of you :).

Whole School Virtues - Intentional and Prophetic: You are intentional and prophetic with your learning, you are a great partner to have for RWI, you are kind, compassionate and patient. During liturgy you are calm and quiet setting a great example to the rest of the class, thank you.

Henry the Dog: What a week, you sat well in church, said your lines beautifully during the assembly and you are starting to spell your words independently in phonics.

Important Information and Upcoming Events:

Reception Plea:

Our half term topic is Roots, Shoots and Story Routes, we will be planting over the next half term, if you have any left over soil, seeds or any gardening resources that you no longer need we would be grateful, so we can add to our outdoor area.

Important Reminders:

  • Please can you ensure that long hair is tied back and please keep hair accessories simple, this is part of our school uniform policy.

  • Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.

  • PE
Our PE days are Wednesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.
