We should love each other, because love comes from God… if we love each other, God lives in us!
John 4:7,12
This week in RE, we’ve been learning all about the joy of Easter Sunday — the wonderful day when Jesus rose, bringing hope and celebration.
We spent time thinking about why Easter Sunday is such a happy day, sharing ideas about the joy of knowing Jesus is alive. The children also imagined what it might have been like at the empty tomb — perhaps quiet, peaceful, and full of surprise.
We reflected on the angel’s words, “Do not be afraid,” and wondered why that message was given. One lovely thought was that the angel simply didn’t want anyone to worry. And, of course, Easter eggs came up too! We talked about why we have eggs on Easter Sunday and how they remind us of new life — and even how their shape is like the stone that was rolled away.
This led beautifully into our child-led liturgy which centered around the ‘tomb’. This week’s prayer leaders created a lovely display on our liturgy table and led our prayers wonderfully.
Conversation starter:
Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.
What part of the Easter story makes you smile the most? I wonder why Easter Sunday feels like such a happy day for you?
What adventures have we been on this week?
We have been learning about doubles and the parts that make the whole, our stem sentences have been … is made of …. and …. … and …. make …. e.g. 4 is made of 2 and 2, 2 and 2 make 4.
We started reading Jack and the Beanstalk this week, we imagined what our magic bean would turn into, there were so many great ideas and super sentence writing. We planted our own beans to observe how they grow and we will look at the cycle of a bean next week. We made our own obstacle course to help us imagine how hard it was for Jesus to carry the cross on his own, Simon of Cyrene, asked to help Jesus when the journey became too difficult. We found that when we had help from our friends it made things a bit easier and we can help each other when things get difficult.
