Class Worship
The children have spent time this week, writing their own prayers and planning their class worships. Next week’s worship will be led by Emilia, Fletcher and George L. I am really proud of how the children have taken ownership of our class worships, they really are a highlight of the week in class.
In RE, we have spoke about the mission Jesus set his Disciples when he ascended and how we are all Jesus’s disciples and we all continue this mission through our everyday lives. Our word of the week is “Witness”, I have challenged the children to be witnesses of people spreading God’s word, being good disciples and extending God’s kingdom

This week’s learning:

Maths: The children have blown me away this week with their maths work - we have tackled and been sucessful in learning column addition. We had lots of practise first with dienes then went on to written work in our books. The standard of work and presentation is amazing….I am so proud!

Science: Friction has been our buzz word in science this week! We have carried out an investigation using toy cars and ramps with different surfaces to test the affects of friction.

English: Strong, fearless, inspiring, courageous, beautiful - these are all words that the children have come up with this week to describe Boudicca, leader of the Iceni Tribe. With these words fresh in their heads the children wrote amazing character descriptions. Next week we will be looking at how Boudicca used persuasive language to rally up troops and rebel against the Romans, before having a go at writing and delivering our our persuasive speeches.

Our transport theme continued in French, where put together sentences about how we travelled to our holiday destinations “Je vais en vacances un avion.” How many different modes of transport in French can your child remember?

In PE we worked in our house teams to problem solve. We spoke about how important it is to be able to trust and rely on our team mates and when we do this we achieve more together.

Conversation starter…

How has our local area changed? What was St.Annes like 5, 10, 15 years ago?

This is a lovely opportunity for the children to speak to grandparents about what the are was like when they were growing up? How does it compare to when parents were growing up and how it is now?
If you have photos of the local area, please email them to me, it would be great for us to look at them as a class.

Albert -We have being doing some really tricky work this week in maths but your focus and resilience has really impressed me and the other adults in our class. You have been making some great contributions to our class discussions and this has extended not only your learning but the learning and understanding of the class. Well done Albert!

Reminders

  • Polite Reminder - We are a ‘nut free’ school - this includes packed lunches, a number of children have had nutella sandwiches this week, not only an unhealthy choice but this also goes against our ‘nut free’ policy that is in place to protect children in our school who have severe allergies.

  • PE Days - Monday outdoor PE, Wednesday indoor PE. PE kits to be worn on these day, full school uniform the rest of the week unless your child has a sports club in the morning ie Judo on Friday.

Have a wonderful weekend, let’s hope the sun stays
