Worship
Luca, Jacob, Jude Cl, Michael and Danny led our worship this week, we listened to Acts 1 ‘Jesus is King’ and heard how Jesus stayed for 40 days with his Disciples teaching and encouraging them. Jesus explained that he would leave them again but the Holy Spirit would help and guide them once he had gone. Jesus would be ruling the world from his new position, seated at the right hand of His Father.
Thank you for leading our class worship, you will be our prayer leaders this week.
On Thursday we watched the Mark 10 Little liturgy , we listen to the story of Jesus travelling to Jerusalem with his family when he was just 12 years old. He got left behind and his parents, Mary and Joseph, spent 3 days looking for him. He was found in the temple with priests and teachers. We thought about how worried Mary and Joseph must have been. We joined in prayer and said a Hail Mary and sang Ave Maria.
We have also spent time this week, praying for the Cardinals and for Pope Francis’ successor. On Friday morning we watched
footage of our new Pope, Pope Leo XIV, being announced and listened to his first public speech.
VE Day Picnic
The weather was beautiful on Thursday and was perfect for our VE Day picnic, we paired up with our partner class, nursery and sat with them and enjoyed our lunch outside, whilst listening to VE Day music. The whole school proudly sang the National Anthem together.
Our learning this week…
English This week we have been making character profiles for the new character in our Roman story. We’ve been enjoying our class novel and have heard about a little girl called Kassy and her family who from the Iceni tribe.
Maths - We have been looking at the relations ships between addition and subtraction equations. We have spent time working out unknown values in equations.
Spelling - The weeks spellings are irregular past tense verbs - please see or homework blog.
Music - Garage band - On Thursday, a music teacher called Matt, came into class to introduce us to Garage band on the ipads. He will be teaching us every Thursday for the next 9 weeks, each week building up our knowledge and skills. This week we looked at all the different instruments we could play and experimented making lots of sounds.
Science - We have started our new topic on forces and magnets. This week we have learnt that pushes and pulls are forces and we all use them every day. We know that a contact force is when two objects touch and a force is exerted.
PE - We have been practising our track running, focusing on stamina rather than speed. We worked in groups and had a relay race.
Conversation starter…
Pope Leo XIV
On Thursday our new Pope was announced.
How do you think he will feel about taking on such an important role? What advice would you give him? What questions would you ask Pope Leo?
