It has been another wonderful week in Year 3, the sun has shone brightly everyday and so have your children.
Worship
Our class worship was led this week by Xander, Bonnie,Wren, Jude Cu, and Barnaby. The read Acts2 and we heard how God sent the Holy Spirit to guide and give the Disciples the strength to carry out the work Jesus had asked them to do. We thought about whether or not the Disciples had carried out their job wel and came to the conclusion that they had, we know this because there are so many followers of Jesus today, all of whom are still being guided by the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for leading our class worship, you will be our prayer leaders this week.
We watched the Mark 10 Mission, little liturgy and heard how Jesus said to his friends "Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another." Jesus wants us to love everyone around us. That is the best way to show that we follow him. Greg helped us to reflect on how Jesus's friends were able to share the love of Jesus and grow the Church. We prayed that we can share Jesus's love too. We ended with a new hymn called "God is Love".
Year 3 Forest School Day
I think all left school on Thursday happy and exhausted. We managed to cram so much into our forest school day, I said to the children at the end of the day that it’s days like these that made me want to be a teacher….we all loved it!
The children were split into 3 groups and rotated through activities all day. At forest school, the children had the opportunity to explore and enjoy our fantastic forest area, for some of them this was their first time in there. Dens were built, potions and concoctions were mixed and made in the mud kitchen, the hammock was a popular place to unwind and relax in between the bug hunting and pond observing! All finished off with a good old get together around the fire for smores!
Meanwhile back in the classroom we were busy making seed bombs and nature mandalas.
Check out our photos of the day!
Our learning this week…
English Our Roman narrative stories are coming together. This week we have also been focusing on prepositions, we have found them in text and written our own sentience with prepositions about a Iceni village.
Maths - We have solved lots of addition and subtraction problems using the strategies we have been practising in our unit of work. We’ve also applied them to question and problems involving bar charts, pictograms and tables.
Spelling - The weeks spellings are words with the prefixes re, dis and mis - Recycle, reacted, reassure, redecorate, mistaken, mistreated, misplaced, disapprov, disappointed and dishonest.
Music - Garage band - We had our second garage band lesson and the children learned how to put together instruments in layers to create music. If you have access to garage band at home, it would be great if you could pop on with your child so they can show you what they can do…. it’s amazing.
Science - This week we planned and carried out an investigation to answer the question “ Do the surface a marble rolls on affect how far the marble travels?”
Conversation starter…
Love…
Jesus said ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’ What does this mean? How are you spreading love and kindness? How do you feel when someone is loving and kind to you?
How can you spread love and kindness in school in our final week of the first summer term?
