This last half term has flown by, it’s hard to believe that next half term will be the last half term of Year 3. I don’t know about you but it feels as if this year has flown by. Next half term is jam packed, we’ve got our sponsored swim, Gym Jam Jog, sports day and lots of sporting events. Please keep an eye on the blog for upcoming events, dates and notices.
Worship
Our class worship was led this week by Patrick, Vincent, Edward, Henry O and Marla. They read Acts 2 and we heard how people in Jerusalem had heard the good news about Jesus and were baptised and became his followers. They gathered together, taking care of each other in the same way a family would. They prayed together and read the Bible. They broke and shared bread together, just as Jesus did with his disciples and in the same way that we do today.
Thank you for leading our class worship, you will be our prayer leaders after half term.
We watched the Mark 10 Mission,in the Gospel, Jesus tells his friends that they should rejoice because he is going away. Why? Because he will send the Holy Spirit to be with them. But who is the Holy Spirit and how can his presence be better than having Jesus walking on earth with us? Sr Thérèse helps us to understand who the Holy Spirit is and why he is a perfect Helper to us.
Library Visit
On Wednesday we had our final visit of the year to the library, thank you to Mr Fox who gave time up to accompany us. All children borrowed books from the library, they are due to be returned on the 11th June - I will send a text reminder nearer the time and if anyone is struggling to get to the library I will do a library run for any children that bring their books to school the first week back.
Our learning this week…
English We have finished our first drafts of our Roman stories, this has been a chance for the children to put together all the skills we have learnt in year 3 and really show off what they can do. I’m looking forward to reading them over half term ready for them to write their final drafts the first week back.
Maths - We have cracked column addition with regrouping. We have had some super maths lessons this week, the children have really enjoying learning this new strategy and I’m so impressed with how quickly they have grasped it. There’s no stopping them now!
Spelling - The weeks spellings are words with the ‘ture’ sound - see homework blog for more info.
Music - Garage band - This week we practised layering instruments to create music, one instrument at a time. Our ,usic teacher was really impressed with how quickly the children are picking up the skills taught. We have some fine musicians in year 3!
Science -We continued looking at friction and the effect friction has on moving objects.
