Worship
In the Gospel, we heard how Jesus gathered his friends together and sent them out with a mission to share his peace with everyone. He said "Whatever house you enter, first say, peace be to this house." Greg helped us to reflect upon this Gospel and to understand that Jesus always wants us to share his peace. We then moved into a time of prayer and sang God's Spirit is in My Heart with Angel.
We have spent time this week making pledges, thinking about what we can do to grow God's kingdom, make it a better place and share God's love with those around us. The children have made their own individual pledges and we made a pledge as a class and shared it with the whole school in assembly.
Our learning this week…
English
English has been disgusting! We have been writing menus for a Spider's dinner party. We have researched what spiders eat and thought of lots of amazing adjectives to describe spider foods. We've used persuasive language to try and tempt the spider's guests to try some of the delicacies.
Maths
In maths we've continued learning about fractions, thinking about how we can split wholes into equal parts and how we can use what we know about the number of parts to work out a whole. We've practised with arrays, shapes and lines.
Science
We had great fun in science investigating how we could make ring magnets float on a wooden dowel - it was magic. We also had a go at making our own magnetic compasses.
French
This week we have been writing sentences about where animal do and do not live. We made spinners to help us select animals and habitats.
Garageband
On Thursday Matt came into school to continue our garage band lessons, he has been really impressed with how quickly the children are picking up the skills and putting them together to create their own music.
PE - cricket
We had a round robin of activities, we worked in pairs and practised throwing the ball at a wicket, catching a ball and hitting the ball.
Transition morning
On Thursday the children went up into year 4 with Mrs Lyon’s and Mrs Bray, there were a few nerves before they went but I’m pleased to say that they all came back full of skittles and smiles.
Lego Coding Event
On Friday I took a small group of children from our class to Ansdell Primary School to take part in a STEM challenge event. They spent the morning designing and building and coding a Lego obstacle course. They then planned a presentation and talked about their to design to the other schools taking part. Well done Jack, Blythe and Edward, you were fantastic.
