What a lovely time we had last Saturday at Holy Communion. The children did so well and were just beautiful. Many spoke afterwards about how special they felt having received Jesus for the first time. In RE this week, children have been looking at the structure of the church and the 4 principles it follows. In the Gospel this week, children learned about how important friendship was to Jesus - that He was given His disciples to share experiences together. Friendship is one of God’s gifts to us too! On Thursday they went to church to celebrate the Ascension with their friends and church community.
In other news, children have done some truly fantastic writing this week - describing two characters from our story - The goddess of the emerald lake and Rasvani, the fire-fiend. Have a look below at their quality work. They have learned about place names in History and have been continuing their fractions work with Miss Edwards.

What do you know about the church and who leads it?

How can you tell by looking at a amp where Vikings settled?
Let’s Celebrate
Our certificate this week is our first ‘triple character’ certificate - inquisitive, creative and enthusiastic! This goes to Blythe. You are so attentive and full of enthusiasm like Bobby Bee in class. You are believing in your own creativity and you are someone who notices patterns! Well done!
Our virtues this half term are being attentive and discerning. We have chosen Eliza as our star because she is always so attentive in class.
Music stars this week:
Holy Communion Saturday 16th May
Please can children come to the priest’s house (at the side of the church) at 9:15 on Saturday morning. You can drop them off here and then get seated in church on your allocated pews.
Upcoming trips and events:
Tuesday 19th May Children are having a Forest School morning. They need long sleeved tops, tracksuit bottoms and trainers. They can wear them to school and stay in them all day.
Wednesday 20th May Year 4 Streetlife Charity beach Walk.
Children can wear their own sensible clothes and trainers - with maybe a dash of purple - but don’t buy anything special! The forecast keeps changing - so they may need a light coat.
They all need:
a packed lunch to bring on the day- preferably in a plastic bag.
to fill their school bags with items for Streetlife’s foodbank (eg pasta, socks, pot noodles and other light items) They will be carrying these to the beach.
if they have buckets and spades, could they bring these along to share with their friends?
£2 for an ice cream
Wednesday 17th June Sport’s Day Year 3 and 4 9:15am
Friday 19th June Anglo-Saxon and Viking dress up day.
This takes place in school and children will be doing lots of things to consolidate their understanding of these two important invaders to our shores. It is always such a fun day! They will need to come to school dressed as either an Anglo-Saxon person, a Viking person, or a Viking god/ goddess, elf, giant or creature! We are giving you lots of time to plan a costume - please don’t feel you need to buy one. Here are some examples of made costumes below.
We have 2 very exciting trips in July. Although this is a way off, we thought we would give you lots of preparation time and so have popped them on parent pay early. These are:
Thursday 2nd July UCLAN Electricity in Science trip
This trip consolidates our learning in Science. The cost of the trip is £20 payable on parentpay from today
Thursday 9th July Cuerden Valley Park Rivers Trip
This is linked to our Geography unit about Rivers and is a brilliant trip to discover the features of a River. This is £25 payable on parentpay from today.
Friday 3rd July St Bedes Prayer Day.
We are going to St Bedes for a day of prayer. This is a lovely chance for children to encounter their potential high school for the first time, whilst celebrating Jesus’s love.
We look forward to round two of Holy Communion on Saturday. Enjoy your weekend.
