I am so so excited to have all of the children back in the classroom on Monday morning; I can’t wait to hear all of their home learning stories and to see how much they’ve grown! Next week will be centered around welcoming the children back, settling them back into the school routine and helping them to feel safe and secure. Our two focus virtues when the children return are love and compassion.

I think you all deserve a medal! We are all so ready to come to school again - but what is marvellous is that we have still all managed to stay together and work together during this testing time. We have learned so many skills and I think we have all got better at figuring things out for ourselves and ‘having a go’ at things- which is such a crucial life skill.
This week I have seen some lovely volcano creations and I have greatly enjoyed your responses to Brer Rabbit stories. I know we all may feel a bit nervous about coming back to school after such a long time - but rest assured that you will be nurtured and supported. We are going to focus on growing to be loving and compassionate as our Jesuit virtues this half term - we can look after one another and have understanding of each others’ needs.
Here are some of our lockdown highlights!
It is crucial that you revisit the updated guidance regarding the return to school on Monday. The first button below takes you to the organisational features.
The others take you to the guidance for children and parents for keeping safe. Please go through these with your child before Monday.
There is further guidance and information on the ‘Keeping Safe’ part of our website under ‘Discover.’
Let’s Celebrate!
This week, a Tommy Turtle certificate has gone to India for having a super go at all learning. A Sadie Spider certificate has gone to Kai for striving to do his best.
Some of us are doing so well with our reading targets - if you have not taken a quiz on a book you have read yet this half term, do one at the weekend, then we can move your seed towards its sunflower target!
Notices:
All children need an Art shirt to keep in their trays at school.

Recorder lessons are on Monday afternoon - first day back!
Children can bring a school bag with reading book, water bottle, snacks and their packed lunch but should not be bringing anything else in from home according to ‘Keeping Safe’ guidance.
Homework will continue to be handed in on Thursdays. Could we try and find homework books and bring them into school.
We cannot wait to welcome the children back on Monday and have spent all week preparing lots of exciting learning!
Have a lovely last weekend together and children, give your parents a big hug for supporting your learning through this time.
God bless,
Mrs Lyons, Mrs Mather and Miss Forster.

I am so very excited to be welcoming our class family back together again on Monday. There will be lockdown stories, key events that have happened and an awful lot of learning to discuss. I am usually one to keep chatter to a minimum in class but I must say, I cannot wait to hear all of the giggles and conversations that will be had between the children come Monday.

Good morning Year 3
Did you enjoy World Book Day yesterday? I enjoyed the scavenger hunt the most, which task did you like best? Today is hopefully the last day of learning in this way at home and we are so excited to see you all on Monday.
Reading
I bet you enjoyed doing all that reading yesterday, did anyone manage to quiz on a book? Curl up somewhere peaceful today and have another long read. Can you plan when you are going to do your half an hour of reading ready for when you come back to school, will you do it straight away when you get home, while you eat breakfast or in bed at night time maybe?
Maths fluency
Today is the third fluency of this week, please watch my video of me marking yesterday’s before you attempt today’s.
Maths
It’s Rockstars day. Go on Times Tables Rockstars for at least 30 minutes (maybe in 2 sessions of 15 minutes) and see if you can earn some more coins. This week our TTR champions are Franek, Leo and Iris.
Some children haven’t been on it enough to register a score yet, so it will still be giving out extremely tricky questions on times tables we might not have practised yet. Children, do not worry just keep trying and when it registers your score it will make the questions suited to you.
English
We have a spelling lesson today as we didn’t do it yesterday with it being World Book Day.
Watch the video carefully and then complete the 2Dos on Purple Mash.
Also make sure that you do your spelling quiz on Purple Mash too. I will give out new spellings to learn next week.
RHE
Think about yourself - you are so special and unique. Give yourself a big pat on the back.
Watch the video below and complete the activity.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
Remember to make sure that you read all of the advice that Miss Hornby has put on the main page.

This is on Purple Mash for you.

Here is your lesson for today, have fun!
WORLD BOOK DAY - Digital Library
Click on the book covers to hear the author reading from their book. There are lots of really exciting looking books and some of your favourties too on these bookshelves, so go ahead and click on one and enjoy. Or you might choose a book that you would not normally choose and who knows but you might discover a new author that you will grow to love! You might even pick more than one. ENJOY!!!
WORLD BOOK DAY - Scavenger Hunt
For the World Book Day scavenger hunt you will need a whole pile of books to choose from. Look at the scavenger hunt sheet on the button below and see if you can find some or all of the things that it asks you to find. Happy hunting!
World Book Day - CBBC Live Lesson
Just like on Online Safety Day, there is a live lesson on CBBC or on iPlayer at 11:30am.
Click on the button below and it will take you to the website.
WORLD BOOK DAY - BOOK COVER
Think about your favourite book and design a new book cover for it. Make sure that your new cover includes the name of the book and also the names of the author and the illustrator too. Be creative!
WORLD BOOK DAY - TRUE OR FALSE QUIZ
Using 2Quiz on Purple Mash create a True or False Quiz for your favourite book. Don’t forget to give your quiz a title (the title of the book + true or false quiz). Make sure that you write statements (not questions) in the top box and give the correct answer (true or false) in the bottom box.
(I showed you how to create a true or false quiz yesterday when we were doing our work on The House Haunting.)
WORLD BOOK DAY - 6 picture story.
Tell your favourite story in 6 pictures. Divide your page into 6 equal parts. Think about your favourite story and see if you can draw one picture in each part of the page to tell the whole of the story. It is really important that you decide what the main parts of the story are because other wise you will need to draw more than 6 pictures. Try to include as much detail as you can in each picture. Once you have drawn your pictures, retell your story.
WORLD BOOK DAY - book review.
Using the book review 2Do on Purple Mash, complete a book review for your favourite book. Remember to add enough detail to make other people want to read the book but do not give them the whole story because if you do they wont need to read the book. Have fun!
Year 4 Remote Learning Thursday 4th March
English
Enjoy some more of these stories for yourselves today! I cannot wait to talk to you about all these stories on Monday and see which ones you liked the best! You also need to make a book of your favourite one.
