"In a world where you can be anything, be kind."

This week the children have been very busy practising for their Nativity next week. They are so excited to share with you, the greatest story ever told! We have also been reflecting on our Advent promises and what a special time of the year Advent is. Do ask your child what their advent promise is.

As a class, our advent promise is ‘to be kind’. So, this week the children have been thinking deeply about kindness. We reflected on how Jesus taught us to ‘love thy neighbour’ and the children shared so many lovely examples of kind words and kind actions. In class, we now have a special kindness pot; every time an act of kindness is spotted, a pom-pom will go in the pot. I am so happy to say that this week, 15 acts of pure kindness have been spotted! We are aiming to beat this next week!

In English, the children have been writing their own story of Supertato. They have been so creative and have made up such imaginative new characters, including Super Cauli Spin and Evil Aubergine. I am so excited to read all of their stories over the weekend.

In Maths, the children have continued their learning about shapes and have begun creating patterns with them. The children were such Curious Clara Clownfish and were able to find the missing shapes, in tricky, repeating patterns! I wonder if the children can spot any shape patterns over the weekend?

Class Tiger

This week the Tiger has chosen to come home with Natasha. Natasha, the Tiger has spotted how kind you are to your classmates. Your beaming smile brightens up everyone’s day and the way you celebrate others success is truly heart warming. Well done Natasha!

Let’s celebrate

Co-operative Roger Robin - For being such a considerate learner. Layla, I have spotted so many acts of kindness from you this week. I love how you have gone out of your way to show kindness to your classmates. Your kind words and actions make all of the children in Year 1 feel so precious! Well done Layla!

Co-operative Roger Robin - For being so forgiving and compassionate. Faye you have such a kind heart and are always so supportive of others. Every day you are a role model to your classmates; your beautiful sitting and listening, shows everyone how to do their best learning. Thank you for making our classroom such a calm and happy place to learn and grow.

Notices:

  • Please can all children bring PE shorts to school with them on Monday; they may need to wear them underneath their Nativity costume.

  • If you have any at home, please could the children bring in any black or white leggings (we need some extra ones for our Nativity). Thank you!

  • On Friday 13th December the children are all invited to wear silly socks and a festive jumper. Year 5 have organised this day to raise money for Brian House - a wonderful, local charity. We have already raised money from the pyjama day and Year 5 are full of hope that we can raise £1,000! Donations of £1 would be gratefully appreciated.

Have a lovely weekend and God bless,

Miss Lane and Miss Woodrow
