This week’s home learning is in folders.
Reading
Please read for at least 20 minutes each day.
You may have noticed a change in your child’s ZPD level. This week all of the children completed their online reading assessment which determines their reading level. I have also sat down and read with each child to ensure that they are on the correct level in order for them to progress in fluency and expression, but to also continue developing their love of reading. Whilst checking books, I had noticed that some of the children had moved themselves onto higher reading levels. Whilst they may be able to read the words in these stories, their reading level also shows their comprehension and understanding. I now feel that all of the children are bringing home a book which is appropriate for them but provides enough challenge for them to continue progressing. Please do get in touch if you have any further questions.
English
This week the children have an ‘oceans’ reading comprehension to complete. This links with their seas and oceans Geography learning.
Maths
The children have brought home a multiplication sheet. This will reinforce the learning that has taken place in class this week.
The children have also brought home their new TT Rockstars log in details. TT Rockstars is a superb online platform that helps to develop times table fluency in children. I have shown the children how to use the website today in class and they have all completed their first ‘gig’. This gig has set an appropriate level of learning for your child so that they can begin practising in the ‘garage’. Your child can access TT Rockstars freely at home. Even just 10 minutes of practise a day can make a huge difference to your child’s fluency and recall.
An app can also be downloaded to devices.
