Year 3 Weekly Blog 8.3.24 - A child who reads will be an adult who thinks!

We have an amazing week in Year 3, topped off with the lovely news that Mrs Marshall welcomed her baby girl into the world on Tuesday evening!
The children all looked amazing on Thursday for World Book Day, thank you for all your effort, I know it’s not always easy putting together a costume but your efforts enjoyed and appreciated by us all in school. The children planned and wrote stories about their magical items, they even designed covers for their books. We then shared their stories with the children in nursery.

Our Class Worship was led by George C, Isaac and Phoebe, they read The Paralysed Man and chose the hymn, All Glory Lord and Honor, for us to sing together. Thank you for leading our class worship, you will be our prayer monitors until next week. Next week’s class worship will be lead by Albert, Fletcher and Lettie.

Iron Men incoming! Thank you for saving and sending in cardboard boxes…this week we finally had enough to start making our Iron Man heads. The children have made a great start, next week we will be painting our head and making circuits for our realistic light up eyes.

In Maths, we been using different strategies for adding near multiples of 10 and and 100 to 3 digit numbers and continued practising our non unit fractions.

We have continued gathering information in our English lessons this week. We have made Black Out poems about gruesome Roman foods and found answers to questions about Roman heal and medicine in printed and digital texts.

In RE, we have looked at Holy Week and the events that happened in the lead up to Easter Sunday.

Music -Miss Woodend taught our music lesson this week, the children were so excited to see her. The children continued to look at pentatonic scales and made up thir own pentatonic melodies on the glockenspiels.

Swimming - Next week (Tuesday 12th March) will be water safety week, the children will need to bring a pair of Pajamas or a long sleeve top and bottoms to their swimming lesson, these will be worn over their usual swimwear. Please do not send children with onies - these are unsuitable.

Reminders

  • Parents evening - Wednesday 13th March & Wednesday 20th March, thank you for booking your appointments.

  • Swimming - Water safety week, pajamas required as well as usual swimwear.

  • Polite Reminder - We are a ‘nut free’ school - this includes packed lunches, a number of children have had nutella sandwiches this week, not only an unhealthy choice but this also goes against our ‘nut free’ policy that is in place to protect children in our school who have severe allergies.

Have a wonderful weekend,
