How time flies when you’re having fun! This term we have been studying an array of artists looking at how we can draw our own conclusions on pieces looked at. From David Hockney and his artwork “My Family”, John Singer Sergeant’s “Front Line to Fiona Rae’s abstract art. We have dressed up, recreated scenes and used the artists as inspiration to create our own art. Through discussion of art pieces, we have formed our own opinions, talked about the choice of colour, the stories behind the piece and the choice of technique. These informed discussions will help the children to choose one of the artists to use as inspiration to research and plan their final piece. This can tell a story, be a personal experience, a message that they feel strongly about or a family- based piece. This will take place after the half term. I have truly enjoyed having deep discussions with the children, sharing our likes, dislikes and our views. I cannot wait to see how they draw on this for their final piece.
Have a lovely half term break,
God Bless
Mrs Mather
